50 ACRE DOG PARADISE
Pet care experience
I'm a mom to 4 kids who have flown the coup, but they had just about every kind of animal growing up. On the farm we currently have 6 horses, several barn cats, 4 ducks, 9 chickens & my 9 yr old Corgi Laci. My daughter Elly did Rover the last 2 summers & I assisted. I've realized over the years that I enjoy nothing more than spending time with critters. Also my husband worked for a vet throughout high school & was an Animal Science major in college. Throughout my life I've had 5 dogs we got as puppies - a Brittany Spaniel, Yellow Lab, Golden Retriever, Australian Shepherd & my little Corgi. I'm home full time and am usually out just a few hours a day, mostly mornings. I'm very flexible, & we only take vacations a few weeks a year. We are on about 50 acres surrounded by working farms, with about 10 acres of woods, 10 minutes from downtown Saline. I'd describe my Corgi Laci as very timid until she gets to know both critters & people. I'm very active & enjoy being outside whenever possible. I also have a grown son & married daughter who are quite often around on the weekends & have really enjoyed all the dogs we've cared for over the last two summers.
Reviews
Martha is a terrific host in her home, great communicator and enjoys pets. This was our second time with her. My dog had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend Martha.
Martha was wonderful! This was my dog's first Rover stay, and I was so happy with the outcome. We did a meet-and-greet before the actual boarding so that everyone could get acquainted. During the stay, she sent daily updates and lots of photos! A five-star experience and dog paradise, no doubt!
EXCELLENT!!! Martha goes above and beyond to be there for both the pet and owner! Very flexible, understanding, caring and kind!
Fitz loves Martha, her husband, and the farm!

Because I don't have a fenced in yard and live in the country I never have a dog outside without a leash. If I'm taking care of more than 1 dog I'm always very careful about introducing them. I never leave dogs together in the same room unsupervised & never feed them together. Our house is set up very well to keep dogs separated the entire time if necessary, but so far they've all gotten along & had a great time together. We also have an outdoor deck that most dogs love to spend time on, watching the horses, the birds & the world going by!

Information Martha S. would like to know about your pet
Any particular habits or preferences, food, meds, or treats. Do they sleep in a kennel, do they have their own bed, or do they have to sleep with me? Have they been away from home before? Did the owner have them as a puppy? Were they a rescue or foster dog? Have they had a traumatic experience I should know about?
A typical day
We live on a dirt road so I usually just take dogs out in our yard which is about 2 1/2 acres of grass. I love when owners bring favorite toys/ balls so we can have a great time playing together. And I love dogs who like to cuddle!

I'm usually out for a few hours each morning but I have a flexible schedule so I can adjust if necessary. I normally spend a lot of time outside, especially in spring & summer, so the dogs go where I go!
