Pet care experience
I grew up with cats and have been taking care of my own for the last 8 years, plus we added a dog to our family just over 4 years ago. I’ve looked after cats and dogs for friends and family over the years and am a true animal lover! (I’ve also kept lizards, snakes and fish too!) Our rescue pup has been challenging as she is anxious and reactive, my ideas of carefree dog ownership went out the window and my learning curve has been very steep! I’ve learned so much about dog behaviour in the past 4 years and our pup is thriving. I would love to put my knowledge and experience in place to look after your furry family when you’re away from home.

Maria was fantastic looking after our 2 x cats while we were away. She sent daily photos and updates and kept our fur babies well looked after giving us peace of mind. One of our cats needed a daily medicine administered which was no problem at all. We will definitely be using Maria again for our future trips :)

I am available to make house visits to let your dog out into your garden for a potty break and play time while you’re at work. Or, I can collect them from your home and take them for a walk. I have experience with anxious and reactive dogs, and am experienced at handling and avoiding confrontational experiences with other dogs in public. I have a calm and non-confrontational demeanour, have clear boundaries with dogs and still make sure to be playful when appropriate. For your cats I am available to make daily or twice daily house visits for cuddles, play time and feeding. I am happy to scoop litter trays and give medication if needed. I adore cats and their varied personalities, and I would love to meet yours.

Before a meet and greet, please let me know if your dog has any nervousness or reactivity issues and what their triggers are. It is also helpful to know how your dog is when strangers enter your home.
A typical day
I will walk your dog in your local area and specialise in 1:1 dog care, rather than group walks, but am happy to walk dogs from the same household together. I allow plenty of time for sniffing and exploring the neighbourhood, and if your dog has good recall, we can work up to time off lead in appropriate areas too. With drop in visits, your dog will play plenty of games, practice obedience and tricks for mental stimulation, get plenty of cuddles and a potty break, of course. When visiting your cats, I take a softer approach at the beginning while earning their trust. I’m ready for lots of cuddles and ear scratches, and love to play games with any toys, or treats that your cat loves.

I tutor part time in the early evenings during term time, and spend my mornings, afternoons and evenings pet sitting and dog walking. As well as taking care of my own furry family 😊
