Experienced dog owner and foster

Pet care experience

I’ve taken care of my family pets my entire life. I grew up on a land with horses and multiple dogs. As soon as I moved out I got my own 3 dogs and foster for nearby organizations

I took a while to write this after picking up my dogs, because I hate to slander a person’s business. But I don’t want anybody else to experience what I did. I have 2 elderly dogs. One of them doesn’t like to get kenneled because he’s partially blind, which I clearly put on his Rover profile. He isn’t the most potty trained dog if he isn’t let out every few hours because he is old, so I totally get that she had to kennel him overnight. I usually don’t kennel him and put a diaper on him at night. I did forgot to leave the diapers with her, so sent them via Amazon. But I really wonder if she left him outside a lot or in a kennel all day long. I specifically chose her because she said she’s home all day. But if that’s the case, he shouldn’t have been kenneled much since she could let him out. It was a huge heat spell when he stayed there and it was a whole week. His health is not good, and he absolutely cannot be outside for longer than to just go potty. He came back to me with a swollen eye (that still hasn’t gone down), and a little white spot on his nose like he was trying to get out of a kennel so it tore his skin. And just super lethargic and his health seemed to really spiral once we picked him up. Up until then nothing was severe. The vet said that being left outside all week even for an hour in that heat could have really caused his health to decline. They also all just seemed very hot when I picked them up. My other dog Molly is on heart medicine and I’m not sure that she was given her meds 2x a day. I did write the instructions on the Rover site. If she isn’t given them exactly every 12 hours she will hack and she hacked the second I picked her up. I’m sure Mackenzie is a great sitter if your dog is ok being kenneled and not elderly, I would just be worried about having your dogs there if they are old or special needs.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a large fenced in yard that they can play in with my own 2 dogs. All my dogs love to play and never fight other dogs. We can also go to the nearby dog park or on a short walk around the neighborhood if your dog is more comfortable with that!

Information Mackenzie M. would like to know about your pet

I have water dispensers throughout the whole house and can provide food as requested so the dogs basically have free roam of the place :) I want them to feel at home! Please let me know what their regular schedule and preferences are at home and I will try to mimic that!

A typical day

My dogs, and most dogs who visit my house, love to play and explore my backyard. It is multileveled so there are stairs and walls that most love to jump up and down from. I also have a pretty large living space that all dogs are allowed to roam about freely. If your dog requires more exercise that yard play, there are several nearby dog parks and we can go on a walk around the neighborhood in the evening.

Since I’m doing school from home since the virus I have plenty of time to watch any animals. I am currently studying for the bar exam and so will be spending my full day at home. I will make sure there’s minimal contact with owners for safety!
