I don't usually leave reviews, positive or negative, so this makes me a bit sad. However, there were some issues with Lacey's care that I don't feel I can leave unacknowledged. The first issue I had with Lacey's dog sitting service was that I specifically requested for my dog to be the only dog in the home during our weekend out of town because she is dog reactive. Despite that request, there was another dog there when I dropped my dog off. I mentioned again that my dog is reactive, and Lacey assured me that was a mistake because the other dog owner was scheduled to pick their dog up earlier and was late. However, there were two other dogs there when I picked my dog up. Luckily Lacey reported that my dog did well with the other dogs, which is great, despite that being against my request for her to be the only dog in the home to keep her comfortable. So if you are looking for a solo experience for your dog while being dog sat, I would not recommend Lacey. Even if she agrees to that condition, clearly she will go against that request unfortunately. The second issue was that the home was very dirty. Not just kids-live-here dirty, like very dirty. Dirt and crumbs and uneaten food about the floors, laundry and linens scattered about, etc. It was not so bad when I dropped off, but was much worse when I picked up. If you are concerned about cleanliness for your dog, I again would not recommend Lacey's care. Which leads me to my third and biggest problem... The third issue I had was that upon getting my dog home and giving her a lot of love and snuggles since I missed her over the weekend, I discovered an open sore on her right elbow/front leg joint. When I inspected it a bit closer, I found that there was dry blood matted into her fur around the sore, as well as dirt and crumbs stuck inside the sore/scabs as if she had been lying on the dirty floor with this open wound. I did send a bed and blanket for my dog, so I was very bothered that she not only had an injury, but was allowed to lay on the uncleaned floors with the open wound. The sore was also very red and inflamed, and possibly/probably would have become infected if left untreated. Needless to say, I was very alarmed and concerned by this. I spent a good 20-30 minutes gently cleaning her sore and dressing it with antibacterial ointment. I have been very torn about how to address this since discovering the sore yesterday after picking my dog up. As I stated, I do not usually leave reviews, especially negative reviews. The other dogs and the lack of clenliness would not have bothered me much, but the sore on her leg upset me beyond belief. My dog is very special to me and I would hate for any other dog to return home with an inflamed or infected wound like my dog did. I will say that Lacey was very responsive when I reached out to check in and sent pictures each time I asked about my dog. My dog also seemed healthy otherwise and was clearly given the basic care required for a dog while she was in Lacey's care. It was really the open wound that changed my opinion and review. If my dog had returned home without this sore, I would probably be leaving a 4 star review rather than a 3 star review.

Lacey took care of two of our small dogs for 4 days while we were out of town. She was great with communication and our pups were happy and freshly bathed when I picked them up.
