ABOUT US: Hello, I'm Kim, the full-time pack leader here at "Camp Canine"! It's my great pleasure to provide exceptional dog care for small groups of dogs in my home. Our days are crafted much like a camp as we move through activities together; walks, playtime, rest, chores, and sleep. During mealtimes, each dog is fed separately and we also have the ability to give private space (dog-gated) to dogs that may just want a breather from the group from time to time. Most of our clients are socially inclined dogs, who love the company of other dogs. We occasionally accept dogs that may be a little anxious on a case-by-case basis. We love seeing their growth as they come out of their shell and into their empowered dog bodies! Pups that stay with us always leave with a smile, having filled their hearts with developmentally appropriate "pack time". Over the past couple of years of hosting "camp", we've built up a beautiful community of regulars who know the ropes here and enjoy it when new friends join us from Rover. I am the full-time pack leader, but we also have my husband Jon (who takes active dogs on runs) and our 13-year-old daughter Kat (who doles out the loving belly scratches). Our family intentionally has no pets of our own. Your pups become our extended family. A PEEK INTO OUR DAY: Typically a day around our house begins around 6-6:30 am with potty, breakfast, and a nice long morning walk. (Dogs with extra energy are invited to run in the evening with Jon while I take those who prefer to walk). We spend the rest of our day alternating backyard play and indoor lounging. And please note: if dogs are outside in our backyard, I am ALWAYS with them, tuned in, leading the pack. At night, we are flexible with sleep space. Dogs that enjoy the comfort of their crate or have a special dog bed should bring theirs, but we are also well-supplied with comfy dog beds and soft plop spots all around our house. Generally, dogs will sleep in our bedroom with us on one of the many dog beds on our floor. We do also periodically allow dogs to sleep on our bed if it seems they want that extra feeling of security. But if you would prefer them not to, just let us know. In the evening I send out an update from the day, complete with photos for you to enjoy. HOURS: We are available for dog drop off's and pick up's between the hours of 6am-10pm. We prefer dog drop-offs (especially for new dogs) to be earlier in the day (before 6pm) so they have time to integrate with the pack before bedtime. ALSO: New dogs are always introduced to other dogs on-leash, in our alley, with side-by-side walking by my husband and me. Sometimes we may wind up walking a mile around the neighborhood, never rushing, until we see new dogs go through all the stages of meeting in a relaxed posture. We have never had any scuffles between dogs in our care, mainly because we truly honor each dog's process and give them the time they need to feel at ease. This said, most of our dog clients meet & start friendships right away without hesitation. They build strong friendships with one another and are excited to come back each time and see which of their friends is here. It's really sweet!!
