Although my love for dogs began in my childhood, I had my first best-friendship with a pup during senior year of college, when I lived with Nahla, a hound mix, and her human. Since then, I have lived with other dogs and become attuned to the needs of my canine counterparts. For over a year, I watched Maya, my friend's husky, on most weekends, and sometimes I would have her for longer, up to a week. Maya is an energetic lady who requires plenty of exercise, trips to the dog park, and lots of brushing with the furminator. We were best friends! She loved that I took her everywhere with me. I have also cared for my friend's dog Luna, a shepherd and cattle dog mix who loved to go hiking and backpacking with me and Maya. Luna had some medical needs as well, so I had to give her medicine in addition to feeding her. In a more official capacity, I walked Mandy, the spoiled Spaniel daughter of a doctor I used to work with. She enjoyed long walks in the parks, barking at recycling bins, and swimming endlessly in the lake for a stick. Other pups I have sat include Jackie, a very relaxed Basset hound, and his brother Butters, a not-so-relaxed mutt. I have also watched Obie, the sweetest Austrian cattle dog, and Rudy, a soft-eared little monster, among others. In addition to being a passionate and loving dog auntie, I am accountable, reliable, consistent, and punctual. I always have the pup's safety and comfort in mind and am always mindful of the dog's special needs and preferences. As a PhD student, I work mostly from home and have the flexibility to spend time with your pup as much as necessary. Your fur baby will get plenty of attention, walks, trips to favorite dog parks, chances to show off tricks, and mental stimulation.
