Lot's of love and for your dog!

Pet care experience

I would be a dog hoarder if I could :) however, the best and most responsible kind! I believe animals are truly angels and teach us our capacity to love. If I had a trust fund, I would start a senior dog rescue! I have rescued, raised and trained dogs for over 26 years, and currently have a motley crew of 5! We had an amazing Pet sitting business for 5 years, and took a hiatus to relocate to beautiful North Carolina, and got a little busy in life, but we are back! our pack includes Ashoka, our gentle giant, elderly malamute mix, supersized, but a highly socialized KING. Uma is our circus Panda and love is her only objective. Wolfgang is our 7lb cat-like dog, that chases bears and may or may not want to be held! Freya is our most beautiful rescue girl saved from a very traumatic early start and is an absolutely perfect beast, even when she's not :). Lastly, Mazzy is my sons dog 'the hairless alien cheetah' We aren't sure there is much happening upstairs, besides glitter and cupcakes floating around her head? I am an artist, health practitioner, and mom, with a huge heart, sense of humor, and clear understanding of animal behavior, with two securely fenced yards. Your dog will be showered with love and treats (if given permission) and can sleep with us or where they choose. We cater to meet you and your dogs needs, whether play, or rest and we love them as would want someone to do for ours! After years of hearing boarding horror stories, I believe even the most well-adjusted dogs get very stressed in facilities, especially when used to an attentive home environment. We stay in touch with the owners via text and love to send pictures and updates, so you can rest assured on your travels in relief! Child and dog friendly dogs only please! Must be houstrained and spayed. Extensive experience with all types of dogs and subsequent personalities and needs. Why I love dog sitting~ It is SO important to leave your dog in a place you and they feel good about. They are our children! I rescued my first dog when I was 16- Obi, he was a lab mix that had been severely abused. He was my best friend and taught me an infinite amount about unconditional love and healing- I lost him to cancer after ten years. When I was 18 I got a husky mix pup named Anoki, he was my everything for 14 years- he was an alpha male and nothing but trouble. Additionally, I rescued a shepherd mix named Sokaia that became my right hand girl, the most docile, well trained dog, but unfortunately was severely epileptic. She required 4 meds a day for 5 years straight. Eventually she needed to be put down as well. Recently we lost our 17 year old unicorn dog. I have raised dogs cradle to the grave and honestly, choose them over humanity most days! I have rescued over 80 dogs over the past 25 years. We relocated to a homestead property 15 minutes from downtown Asheville NC. We have lots of space to romp with a 6 foot stockade fence and cattle fence (no cattle!). We were booked 365 days for 5 years straight in CT between daycare dogs and regular travelers. At this point we are selective with who we take, as we have scaled back quite and still want to get all the doggo love, but prefer only houstrained animals, unless a puppy (no markers) comes with a bottle of nature's miracle, and we can help housetrain. Child and other dog friendly animals only. It is DEEPLY important to us who watches our dogs and it is the first thing I secure before taking a trip! I will send you plenty of updates and shower your dog in pure love. So please contact us for a meet and greet if we feel aligned. If you are exploring Asheville for the day, we do offer a day rate as well as dog friendly air bnb if it's available . Please check out all our pictures on Facebook Dog Star! See all of the happy four leggeds!

Kendra is a wonderful person and I would 100% recommend anyone to her. She developed a solid connection with Mikey, and he had a wonderful time in her care. Whether it be for a daytime stay or overnight, Kendra is your person.

Kendra was great at communication and provided many pictures so we knew our pups were being watched carefully. Our pups did not adjust well to the new environment and to the three other dogs in the home - being immature and young still. Kendra did her best to take things in stride but sharing the frustration with us while away only caused concern and loss of sleep knowing we were negatively impacting her family. The experience provided us with additional insight and training opportunities for our puppies and we will work hard to make them the best pups they can be in all situations.

Kendra was very good. I highly recommend her to anyone!!! My dog is a very energetic husky puppy. She not only handled her well for the entire weekend but she also helped train her by teaching good habits. I felt very safe leaving my dog in Kendra's home. She has a very secure yard and she is able to control many dogs. Thank you Kendra!!!

A typical day

While we don’t walk dogs we do have a fenced acre for them to romp. They can play with our oafs, who are sometimes lazily sunbathing and other times wanting to play. Our house is dog friendly, and I honestly clean to maintain filth between kids and dogs, but I wouldn't have it any other way! Your dog's sleeping arrangement will be wherever they are most comfortable. We've had dogs sleep in bed with us, or on their bed in a quiet corner of their choosing. Our pets are family, yours will be loved and treated as such.
