Dogs are Family!

Pet care experience

We are a couple who live in an apartment in Fremont. We are long time dog lovers and have had such great experiences using Rover to find dog sitters that we wanted to do it ourselves! We have both grown up with a variety of large, small, shy, gregarious, young and elderly dogs and feel confident that your dog will be comfortable in our home. For the past 6 years my family has had 3 very elderly dogs, all blind, deaf, and anxious. I am very familiar with older dogs and am comfortable giving medicine, even insulin shots which our eldest dog needed daily. I am also very careful and vigilant and would not let a strange or abnormal behavior go unnoticed. I definitely intend to use Rover's vet service if I need to! I grew up with 2 small dogs. One was very grouchy and semi-agressive, while the other was extremely submissive, I have plenty of experience with both ends of the spectrum. My boyfriend grew up with a mid sized mutt and a pitbull cross, both very smart and well trained dogs. About a year ago, my boyfriend and I adopted 2 adult Greyhounds and have fallen in love with them! They are extremely sweet, lazy, and shy. We do not have a back yard but we walk our two greyhounds (and your dog!) 4 x per day. Our apartment is on the 2nd floor and our building does not have an elevator. If your dog cant do stairs, we would be happy to carry them (80lbs or less). We had to do this with our greyhounds before they learned how to go up and down stairs. Due to the size of our place we only accept 1 dog (or a pair that comes together) at once. This also allows us to keep an eye on your dog so that any strange or abnormal behavior will not be overlooked. It also ensures that your dog will get along with the other dogs in the house, our dogs. We don't want to worry about multiple guest dogs getting along so we only sit one at a time! We have 2 adult Greyhounds named Mila and Kenley, they are very relaxed and love to sleep a lot. They are fully vaccinated, spayed and neutered, so you won't have to worry about your dog getting pregnant or contracting a disease! They get along well with big, small, young, and old dogs alike but do not get along well with jumpy puppies or dogs who like to wrestle. We do not take our dogs to dog parks, but would be happy to take your dog if you request it. My experience administering medication Yes. My family has had 3 elderly dogs over the past 6 years who all required different medications. It ranged from insulin shots, to antipsychotic pills, to doggie-pepto bismol we had to squirt in their mouth. I brush my dogs teeth every night too and have some experience changing wound bandages.

We booked a stay for our dog Domino with Kelly for five days on fairly short notice. Kelly was great about listening to the quirks and needs of our older dog. Domino seemed to really enjoy his stay with Kelly and her two sweet Greyhounds. I received several pictures and updates from her during the stay. I would definitely use her again to watch Domino again!

Our 2 girls just returned from their 2nd stay with Kelly. They again had a wonderful time! Kelly and Ryan are so easy to work with, she communicated promptly and sent updates so that I knew the dogs were doing great (not that I was at all worried about them in her care). The girls settled in immediately, almost didn't notice we were leaving when we dropped them off. We would use Kelly again with no hesitation!

Kelly (along with Ryan and her two dogs) was the perfect sitter for Molly. She took her for many walks, had a bottomless box of toys that squeaked and rolled, and gave her lots of love while she was away from home. Kelly is easy going, quick to respond, and shared daily pictures and updates, making our first time using Rover a pleasure.

Kelly was on time and stayed with our dog while we were gone. She was great with our girl, Amber loved her. Kelly also seems well versed in working with larger dogs, which was a plus. Will hire her again!

Information Kelly S. would like to know about your pet

Size of the dog - We are fine with small dogs but if they are the size of a guinea pig (5lbs or so... that is too small). Do they like to play physical with other dogs? or do they prefer people/playing alone? Any abnormal behaviors that we should be aware of? Possessive of food or toys? Sensitive spots where they don't like to be pet? Their feeding, eating, and bathroom schedule?

A typical day

Your dog's sleeping arrangement Our dogs sleep in the living room or on our bed. Your dog is welcome to do the same! Time I'll spend with your dog weekends = all day mostly. weekdays = they will be alone from 1130am-215pm and from 4pm-530pm daily.
