Pet care experience
Note: My service area runs from (roughly) Pulaski to Ashland, and Peterson to Addison. About Me: I have been a full-time Pet Sitter since July 2017, and I have lived with many different animals since I was a child. When I was younger, I always had any type of pet that my parents would allow: dogs, mice, turtles, hamsters, fish, and even a tree frog! I still have many pets of my own today: I currently live with two large dogs, three guinea pigs, a box turtle, and two fish. My life is all about animals, and I wouldn't have it any other way! My goal during every visit is to make my animal client feel as comfortable and happy as possible. I work with many anxious animals, and have years of experience navigating their different needs. I understand that my visit can either be a source of stress for an animal, or the highlight of their day when their family is away. I have the knowledge and experience to adapt to each animal's unique needs, and make the most out of our time together. Growing up, my family always had large, high energy dogs (German Shorthaired Pointers) that I helped care for from a young age. I am currently the proud owner of two large senior dogs (80lb American Pitbull Terrier, age 11; 75lb Black and Tan Coonhound, age 10). My experience with dogs goes back more than 40 years to my early childhood. I also have plenty of experience with cats! I was the owner of three beautiful cats when I was younger, and have also lived with cats for years (owned by roommates) since then. I have cared for many cats since I began my pet sitting career, and even the most skittish cat eventually warms up to me. I believe that they can sense how much of a true animal lover I am. I devote much of my time to studying canine behavioral issues including leash reactivity, fear aggression, resource guarding, separation anxiety, fear of noise (such as thunder/fireworks), etc. I have experienced many of these issues first hand with my own dogs, as well as many of my clients, and I am accustomed to caring for animals that suffer from these types of anxieties.

The pups love when they get walks from Kelly! She is the best and always responsive.
Kelly is amazing with all 3 of my dogs including one that can be fussy. She clearly loves pets and knows them well. She is great with them, refilling water bowls, treats! Total confidence!
Kelly is the best and very reliable. Our pups love her!

I have plenty of experience administering medications to both cats and dogs. I regularly care for three different cats that suffer from asthma, and require administration of an inhaler. I regularly care for a dog that suffers from meningitis, and requires special care. I care for a diabetic cat that requires injectable medication. I am capable of "pilling" a dog or cat if hiding their medication in food isn't an option. I have the experience and infinite patience that your pet needs when you are away, and I routinely go above and beyond to not only make your pet feel more comfortable, but also to put you at ease. I am always very thorough in the notes and photos that I sent after each visit. I hope to hear from you, and look forward to the opportunity to meet you and your animal family! Thank you for taking the time to read about me.
Information Kelly R. would like to know about your pet
I prefer to schedule a "Meet and Greet" beforehand so I can meet you and your pet in your home, and discuss their routine: feeding, bathroom breaks, their favorite activities, any behavioral issues, health issues, medications or other needs. Mostly, I just want to know what I can do to keep your precious pet as comfortable as possible while you are away! I know how tough it is for pets to be away from their owners, so my goal is to make it as fun and comfortable as possible for them.

I am also very experienced with animals who require extra special care. I was once the owner of an English Pointer dog who had a stroke at age 15, and he lived to be 16 1\2 against all odds! In the first few months following the stroke, he required extensive care in his disabled state that included administering medications, hand feeding him water and baby food using a syringe, urine and feces clean up, physical therapy for him to relearn how to walk, and carrying him up and down the stairs for bathroom breaks several times per day (he was never able to navigate stairs again after the stroke).
