Kayla was very nice and generous but didn't really fulfill the sitter expectations required. Our senior husky has really bad separation issues as stated on our profile and as stated through messages. This is why we opt for house sitters instead of exploring boarding options or drop in visits. She has pretty specific needs in terms of companionship, unfortunately, as it's something that's gotten pretty bad with age. On top of this she had gotten into the trash and ate some rib bones which was admittedly our fault for forgetting the hide the trash before we left. I had asked her to keep a close eye on how she was feeling and behaving, so it was pretty upsetting to hear she had only been doing drop in visits for potty breaks and to feed them. I had gotten a call from our neighbors around 3:00am that Akira had been barking loudly for hours. After checking the nest camera, this was pretty consistent with the entire visit. Akira spent most of the weekend we were gone barking and howling and leaving a lot of loose stools around the apartment and some vomit piles too. She didn't completely neglect the animals - they had food and water and I trust that she took her out for potty breaks, but the whole experience made it difficult to break away for a weekend without stressing out about her well-being. To Kayla's credit she did get back to me in the middle of the morning after I told her Akira was barking all night and spent a few hours with her before she had work. But she said she hadn't been staying the night because it was hard to sleep on the guest bed. That hadn't been communicated until after I inquired. Kayla was very cordial and polite, but I don't think we'll be using her next time and the experience makes me pretty wary of Rover in general, especially after having two bad experiences (the prior experience that wasn't Kayla, that we even informed her about) in the span of two weeks.

Kayla was phenomenal, I was able to book her the day we had to travel! She responded almost immediately and met us just a few hours later. She went above and beyond what we expected of her - shampooing our carpets when Akira had an accident, cleaning the cat box, etc. Kept us in the loop the whole time. Thank you again Kayla, we'll absolutely keep you in mind if we ever have to book again and you're available!
