Welcome to The "Muttly Crew"!
Pet care experience
We are long-time animal advocates, active foster parents for Rescued Pets Movement, and all around dog-lovers. We have both owned dogs our whole lives. We own our home, located in Houston Heights, which has a fully fenced front and backyard for playtime, a warm and cozy couch for snuggling, and blankets for bedtime. We walk our dogs around the neighborhood daily. Our lives revolve around our 3 rescue dogs. Let yours come and join the pack while you are away! We promise to send pictures and updates.
Reviews
Beautiful home, great fenced in yard and an obvious animal lover. Louis seemed to have a great time and is still napping off the exhaustion of living with other dogs for a few days. Highly recommended.
Katie and Bruce are simply amazing! They helped us out over Thanksgiving on extremely short notice, and could not have been nicer or more accommodating to Henri. They welcomed him as part of their family, and let him sleep on their living room chair :) It helps that they happen to be our neighbors and live right down the street, but we will absolutely use their services again. Henri came home happy and exhausted, the hallmarks of a great stay. Thank you both again!
This was our first Rover experience and are completely satisfied. Katie's attentiveness to our Max was beyond what I was expecting. Being away from our pup for 6 days, it was very comforting to receive updates and pictures of how much he was enjoying his stay. I was almost afraid he wouldn't want to come back. I will definitely consider re-booking for any future occasions.
Katie was a really great sitter- she looked over my saved care information on my dog and addressed all of my concerns before I even had to ask her about them, and she sent pictures and updates throughout the weekend. I will definitely use her again, and I definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter!

About my yard We have a 7,500 square foot lot. The front and back yards are fenced. The front yard is smaller but gives the dogs lots of fun things to look at, as there is a park directly across the street. The backyard is large with a deck for sunning and plenty of grass to run, chase each other, look for squirrels, and go to the bathroom in.

I like to know a dog's preferences and normal routines before sitting them. Dogs thrive on routine, and I'd like to keep them as happy and comfortable as possible by continuing what they are used to.
A typical day
Here's where we'll take our walks We usually take them one of three places. The first and most common place is through our neighborhood. We have many tree-lined streets with very little through-traffic. It is nice to wander through the neighborhood while the dogs get exercise. The second place that we take them is through the park, along White Oak Bayou. While this is a fun walk, there are usually many other dogs on walks on the same trail, so we don't like to take them there when it is too busy. The third place is in the baseball field across the street. This is a fully fenced-in field that is often used as a dog run, when it is not being used for baseball. It is a fun place with new smells to let the dogs off leash. Your dog's sleeping arrangement I prefer that the dogs sleep where they are used to sleeping. I have extra crates and extra blankets. They can sleep crated, in our bedroom in their bedding, or in the living room (probably on the couch) with 2 of our 3 personal dogs. Time I'll spend with your dog My dogs need at least 8 hours of time with us each day, or they get ornery. You dog will get at least that amount too. Please note that we both work Monday through Friday, so your dog will be home without us between 9am and 4pm. We get up bright and early to try to give them as much attention as possible before work, though.

Why I love dog sitting I was born into a home with a Shepherd/Lab mix who slept under my crib every night. I had at least one dog in my life at all times. As I grew up, I started to realize the great issue that Houston has with unwanted pets, particularly dogs. The city of Houston has a live release rate of shelter animals of only 50-60% in any given month. Therefore, it has become my passion to give as much of my energy as possible to organizations that give these shelter animals a second chance. I spent many Saturdays over the past few years walking dogs at BARC. I have donated much of my time and money to Friends of BARC, and I have fostered over 50 dogs for Lucky Dog, Pup Squad, and Rescued Pets Movement. I feel it is our duty as human beings to care for these domesticated animals, to give them a warm place to sleep, physical nourishment, and the one thing they seek the most, an understanding that someone cares about them.
