Pet care experience
**PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE PAUSING ALL SERVICES STARTING APRIL 22ND THROUGH MAY 12TH. We're getting married around then and want to focus on that! We'll be back to serving dogs and cats May 13th. Thanks for your understanding!** Hello! I'm Katie, a 32-year-old social worker who works from home full time. I have two dogs of my own, Atlas and Otis. They're a husky mix and a husky respectively and they keep me on my toes! I have been dog sitting since high school, first for friends and family, and then when Rover came into being I started using it to dog sit. I have well over a decade of experience taking care of dogs of all kinds and have participated in dog sports like lure coursing, agility, and have done obedience classes with my dogs. I've also taken care of all sorts of other animals- cats, geckos, turtles, and birds - and love getting to know each animal's unique personality! I require meet and greets for any boarding clients, or regular day care clients. There are some exceptions. Daycare hours are from 8am - 5pm, early drop-off and late pick-up can be negotiated for an extra fee. Unspayed females are accepted on a case-by-case basis and I do not accept dogs that are currently in heat. Boarding clients must be able to be left home alone for up to 4hrs at a time, either crated (if crate trained), or left free in the living room. Please note: Though my profile is set up to show I can board two dogs from different homes at once, this is reserved for established clients only as I am familiar with their dogs and who will or won't get along. Typically, I only board one dog at a time, but exceptions can be made for regulars. My fiancé lives here and is also a Rover approved sitter with his own profile (https://www.rover.com/members/tony-k-ready-to-adore-your-furry-friends). He will assist in taking care of your pups in our home!
Reviews
Katie C. cancelled a booking within a day of the start date.
Katie has been the best and we are so thankful to have found her on Rover. She walked our fur baby twice a day while we were out of town for four days. Katie constantly communicated with us through the app and by text and sent photos of our baby every walk. Very professional and friendly. I will definitely be requesting her services again in the future.
Katie takes excellent care of my 9 month old black lab, who has boarded with her multiple times now. She sends me pictures with frequent updates and is always prompt with communication. His tail is always wagging and he rushes to the door when we arrive to her house 😊
Katie was great with our pup, Ivy! We got lots of updates and it was evident she was getting lots of love and playtime from Katie and their family!

Outside of Rover, I am the go-to person for friends, family, and family-friends when they need someone to care for their dog, cat, other critters, and home. I take a lot of pride in the work I do through Rover and outside of it, and I aim to provide the highest quality pet care possible. My guest dogs have their own space in my office where all of their personal items are kept, and is where they are fed (as everyone in the house is fed separately). When I'm checking in on kitties or other pets in your home, I give them my full attention making sure they're comfortable, happy, and loved. I am privately insured through Pet Care Insurance so not only are you covered by the Rover guarantee, but you're double covered should something happen (and nothing has in my decade+ of taking care of animals, thankfully).

Information Katie C. would like to know about your pet
I don't have any breed preferences - I love all dogs! I would like to know their general schedule (when do they eat, etc.), whether or not they are okay in cars and on leash. Of course I would like to know if the dog has a bite history or if it has a high prey-drive (likes chasing smaller animals). Then, just general personality characteristics. Is this a dog that wants me to wrestle (which I love)? Or is your dog a lap dog who just wants to cuddle (which I also love)? Other helpful information: emergency contact in the area, information on the Veterinary Clinic where the dog has a chart, or possible allergies/food sensitivities. All dogs must be up-to-date on their vaccinations. I also need to know if your dog takes any medication and what the dosing schedule is. I have extensive experience piling even the most stubborn dogs and am totally comfortable administering pills, chewable tablets, ointments, ear drops- you name it. And if you show me how to do injections, should your dog need it, I'm happy to do that too.
A typical day
I wake up and take the dogs out to potty and run around the yard, then bring them in to feed them before I start work. Usually I check e-mails then let them out again for post-meal potty time and more running around together while I get some work done. Then, I'll usually bring them in, or take a break and go play with them. My two don't mind chilling in the living room or in the office with me while I work, and we try for a walk every day but only as my schedule allows. Dedicated yard time (where I'm out playing with and engaging them) seems to do the trick.

You can see from my profile I'm a highly rated sitter with a lot of experience. I've taken care of dogs here and back in NYC where I was living until COVID-19 brought me back home for good. I own my home and have a generous, fully fenced backyard for dogs to romp, run, and play in! I also work from home, so I'm almost always around to see to your furry friend's needs.
