Pet care experience
I consider dogs family members. I have grown up around dogs which sparked my passion for them at a very early age. I've always been known as the "dog lady," hired as a pet sitter and walker my entire middle school and high school career. I have successfully trained many dogs after shadowing professional trainers in the past. My most recent experience was working for a local licensed and inspected dog breeding kennel in which I learned how to handle every day care of dogs (all ages and sizes), emergency situations, reading dog "language", understanding breed temperaments and specific nutritional needs. I have two dogs, an 11-pound Cavalier king Charles Spaniel who is under 2-years-old and a 40-pound, 9-7year-old mixed breed who I rescued. They play well with and tolerate other dogs, but Sadie is a bit of an old lady, so it is always best to introduce her to other dogs prior to them coming into the home. I walk them every day and spend as much time with them as school and work allows, meaning a dog I petsit will be heavily supervised.
Reviews
My dog is pretty weird, more like a wary cat than a dog. I get nervous about her staying any place new, but after one day with Katie, I feel totally comfortable. She took to Katie instantly, cuddling, playing with her dogs, relaxing on the sidewalk during a walk. In fact I'd say she was more relaxed with Katie than with me. Katie was great about sending lots of updates and pictures to let me know how things were going. When I picked my girl up to leave, she didn't want to go. That's impressive considering she's a homebody and this was her first time with Katie. I can't wait for her to stay with Katie again. I know she's in good hands :-)
Katie is amazing with my 3 month old pup! She watched him all day while I was at work for day care. Biscuit had a blast and was so tired when we got home. She sends updates often and is a pleasure to work with. We will be having weekly sessions this summer! Being new to the area, I'm so happy to have found Katie!
Jack had a great stay with Katie and Sawyer, making two new best friends in the process! Katie was great, sending me multiple updates on Jack throughout his stay. I highly recommend Katie and will definitely be in touch next time Jack needs a pupsitter!
Katie is a caring, responsible, thoughtful caretaker and is highly recommended. Thank you, Katie!!

Information Katie B. would like to know about your pet
I have no breed preferences, but require any dog coming into my home to have proof of up-to-date shots and vet records in which I would inspect prior to committing. I have a small dog, so any aggressive dog will not be welcomed into my home for his, and my safety. Preferably the dog should be potty trained, but I am willing to watch a dog who is working on this if the dog is okay to stay in a pen when not directly supervised. I prefer if the dog is crate trained, just in case I have to leave my apartment for any reason. I have house mates, so extremely loud or "talkative" dogs will not be the best fit for my location.
A typical day
Living near NC State's campus, I often enjoy long walks which will ensure to get your dog PLENTY of attention from all the doggy-deprived students living on campus. When we aren't going on walks, I have a medium sized, fenced in back yard attached to my apartment to ensure dogs in my care will get plenty of exercise and outside time. I live in a house separated into apartments. My apartment is small enough that I will be able to supervise a dog the entire time to make sure they stay safe.
