Traveling Dog Sitting

Within a few days Sitter responds within a few days
About Kathleen C.:

I am a graduate of the University of Washington, recently evacuated from Peace Corps service in Guinea. I would love to get a dog of my own but I don't know where I will be next year. I would love to watch your dog while you are gone.

About this sitter:
I recently graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Biology. I and have moved back to Eugene after having been evacuated from the Peace Corps in Guinea. I am waiting to see if I will be able to return to service but in the mean time I am doing some work in lab at the U of O but I have a lot of time to spend with your pets. I would love to get a dog of my own as soon as I get settled when I get back but in the meantime I would love to watch your dog(s) while you are gone. I also love animals of any shape and size and am happy to take care of cats, horses, pocket pets, or anyone else in your household. I have now been sitting with Rover for over a year and have loved all of the great dogs and people that I have met.

How long have you been a dog lover? Tell us about your history with dogs.

I have been a dog lover my whole life. I have dog and house sat for many family friends and neighbors. I also spent several years volunteering at Greenhill Humane Society in Eugene, Oregon. In college I worked with a vet clinic in Seattle and was in charge of the dogs who there for boarding. I had my own dog during Peace Corps service in Guinea but unfortunately I had to leave her there when we were evacuated.

What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences?

I would like to know about any habitats the dog has, as well as any special needs the dog has. I typically prefer medium to large breeds but would be willing to work with any dog.

Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency?

Yes, I have a car.

Are you comfortable administering medication?

Yes, I am comfortable administering medication. I have experience working at a vet clinic and have a lot of experience giving all sorts of medications.

Kathleen C.'s Experience:

I grew up volunteering at Greenhill Humane society as well as watching the pets of my friends and family. More recently I have been working at a vet clinic and spent several summers on a ranch taking care of a variety of animals of all sizes including horses, goats and cattle. I also had a dog of my own while in Guinea, unfortunately due to the circumstances of my leaving I wasn't able to bring her home with me.

Kathleen was always great with Sheri and I used her many times when she was living in Seattle. Sheri was always tired and happy after her time with Kathleen. I'm sad Kathleen has moved out of Seattle and I have to find somebody new. I would definitely recommend Kathleen to anybody!

It was so great having Kathleen stay at our house with Floyd. She is a natural with dogs. And Floyd was able to be in his own space with his own gear and experience less transition while we were away. She made she sure he got out plenty to play and exercise, and it was a bonus to have our house not be empty.

Kathleen was great with our dogs. We love that she was able to take them to work with her where they could play with the other dogs all day. I would use her again and recommend her to everyone.

We adopted our pooch a few months ago from a shelter, and she's still very shy. Kathleen was great with her, and that is worth its weight in gold to us. We plan to use her again.

Kathleen did a great job--very conscientious, and the dogs loved her. I highly recommend her and won't hesitate to use her services again!

Kathleen has lots of experience staying with dogs in their own homes. She is very conscientious about making sure they get fed on their usual schedules, taken outside for plenty of exercise, and in general feeling like they have a friend who is watching out for them.

I love my little dog, so it's important to me to find someone who will take good care of her. Kennels aren't an option, because my little terrier is a brat around other dogs. Kathleen fed, walked, and kept my dog company in my home. It's weird to give your house-keys to a stranger, but I was comfortable leaving my keys with Kathleen.

I would completely and without reservation trust Kathleen to take outstanding care of my dog, my child, my house, or anything else that needed attention. She approaches her work as a dog walker and house-minder with a professional attitude and skill. She's trustworthy, responsible, dependable, and on top of all that - she simply LOVES DOGS.
