I don't remember a time in my life without a pet. We had two dogs and a cat growing up, I had a chinchilla in college and a variety of pet sitting gigs, and after college, I began a 12 year best-friendship with my lab-shepherd mix. After he passed away, we started sitting on Rover which was the best thing for my empty nest syndrome! We have our new pup, Eva, now and she loves having friends in the house. My partner and I love dogs like a fat kid loves cake. Seriously. A recent renovation included adding a huge doggy door so our pup could hang out in the back yard, watch passers by from the deck, sniff the grass, and chase squirrels. Our dog's happiness is one of our greatest satisfactions -- and we want to offer the same to your pup. Our rowhouse has lots of space to romp, inside and out, so bring your baby over! About our dog sitting style: -endless affection provided -walks are some of our favorite things (I'm on morning and after work duty, my partner enjoys "last call") -we enjoy the fruits of a well-trained dog, so we like to give structure and training -dog beds upstairs and downstairs -dog-dedicated ottoman that serves as the pet perch in the front window (furniture is off limits) About our yard: Fairly large yard by DC standards, fully enclosed (9ft fencing around, gate locked from the inside), almost entirely grass, and accessed through the back door or THE DOGGY DOOR (which can be locked if you prefer). Additional details: Our last pup was a senior, and we were well versed in giving him his 6 pills AM and PM (yes, you read that right), so meds are not a problem. He also had a sensitive tummy, so we are vigilant about making sure he didn't eat things on walks, in the yard, etc., if that's an issue for you. And we've got a large sized crate that we are happy to set up for your kid.
