Pet care experience
I’ve been dog-sitting and -walking off and on since 2014. I always enjoy meeting new pets to take care of! Growing up with pets instilled in me a deep love of animals. My family always had cats around, and we had a dog for several years. I have also previously had cats of my own (as an adult). I'm originally from Seattle but have moved around and traveled a lot in the last 10 years, working seasonally in national parks and ski towns. I’m happy to be settled in Star Valley for now and exploring all that this beautiful valley has to offer. I love being outside, so I can take your dogs out on hikes or skiing as possible. I moved to Afton this year for a job with the Forest Service as a wildlife tech. I live alone in a small house with one cat, and can care for others’ pets in their homes or mine, if they are cat-friendly.

Julie is amazing! I beautiful human with a lovely disposition. My pup was feeling anxious from our travels and Julie was so patient. Within ten minutes, Milo was trusting her with belly rubs. I would like to know the dog's daily routine, what she/he expects out of the day, if they've been dog-sat by people they don't know and how they normally act around people they don't know, or if they typically get separation anxiety. I would also like to know if there is anything specific the dog does or doesn't like, including food, allergies, or games/toys. I will also need to know of any medicine or other special routines they need.
A typical day
I love to take dogs out on walks around the neighborhood or in the park. I might take them to a dog park if I have time and it's something they enjoy. If you have a yard, I’ll take them out to play with them. I’ll also send you pictures and keep you updated on our activities as often as you’d like!

Availability
Over the winter, I work primarily in-office, 10-hour days Monday-Thursday, and have Friday-Sunday off. During the work week: If I’m caring for pets in Afton, I can check on them briefly during lunchtime. If outside of Afton, the pets will be left alone for ~11 hours. Occasionally I can telework, but I don’t count on it. On weekends, I’m usually open and available to take your dog out and spend time with them, though I usually go skiing at least one day. In the summer, I work 10+ hour days in the field, usually the same schedule, and might not be able to check in on the pets during the day. I go out of town occasionally and will update my availability on my profile as needed.
