I speak dog- they respond very well
Pet care experience
I have always been a huge animal lover and the joke is that "I speak dog." I ask to pet strangers dogs on the street, and they always respond extremely well. I love spending time with dogs- from petting them in bed (or on the floor), playing fetch, or going for long walks or hikes, I love it all. Family friends have asked me to dog walk/pet sit for them starting in 2011. I've done everything from stopping by to check on the animals and walking them, to staying over in the family's house for up to 14 days while caring for the animal(s). I've watched anywhere from 1 dog/1 cat at a time, to staying in a home with 2 dogs, 5 cats, 8 finch birds, koi fish, and a parrot at a time. When pet owners go away, it can be sad or stressful for their dogs and other animals. I feel it's best to keep their routine as normal as possible, by not only having the dog stay in the home, but for myself to stay with them as well. That way they will have company, and will be in the comfort of the home they know. I got my first pet dog at 9 years old- she was half Newfoundland, half Labrador. She weighed 80 lbs which was more than I did at the time. As our family pet, we all took turns walking, playing, picking up after, and caring for her. I spent hours playing with her in the back yard, teaching her tricks, and going for long walks. She lived until the ripe age of 14, and lost a leg towards the end due to cancer. (Along with having only 3 legs, she was on medication in pill form that I gave to her everyday.) She wasn't just a family pet, but more like a sibling to me- she was my litter mate and I grew up with her. In 2016, I hiked the Appalachian Trail- a footpath spanning 2,200 miles from Georgia to Maine. Along the way, my hiking partner and I got a 7 week old puppy. We carried her until she could walk, and we raised her along the way. Between her, my first dog, and others I've raised or petsat for, I am experienced with puppies and senior dogs alike.
Reviews
Terrible experience with Jodi. Seeing all the reviews we got her to watch my 1 year old lab. Where do I start!? First text after 30 mins in asking if she could ‘nap’ while my dog is resting..? She lets him chew on something ..in a different room, firstly she assumes it’s a toy which then turns our to be her own water bottle that she carelessly left around. He consumes multiple pieces and then under the pretext of taking him for walk, takes him to a vet 30 mins away, without informing us. Yes, that’s right! We call her getting worried that there was no movement in the house, she then tells us that she is an unknown vet. We rush back and she tell us that she panicked and took our dog without our permission to a vet. She not only killed our evening which was a celebration for my nephew’s graduation but had to deal with a heavy vet bill and hours at a emergency clinic.
Jody was so sweet with Schrader and really gave him love and attention. I couldn’t recommend her more.
Jody was super sweet and our cat was so happy to see her! Jody was extremely communicative and helpful with any needs I had. She even brought her own cat toy over to play with. I wish she lived in the area, because if she did, she’d be my resident sitter. Thanks so much Jody!
wonderful! we needed someone at the last minute for our new puppy. Jody was terrific. she’s calm, knowledgeable and was so warm with our new little guy.

Information Jody D. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know their breed (or as much about what their mixed with), their age, their demeanor, if they have any health issues, if they're good with other dogs or not. I'm very partial to medium to large size dogs (such as labs, golden retrievers, border collies, pit bulls, and even larger dogs such as Bernese mountain dogs, Newfoundlands, etc.) I have some experience with small dogs as well.
A typical day
I'm a huge hiker and outdoors person, so if possible I'd like to take the dog for a nice walk in the woods, or even a park if possible. If these aren't available and it's an urban environment, I like to explore neighborhoods and the area around me so the dog will certainly go for a long walk as this happens. If they have room to play and like fetch or tug-of-war, they can expect lots of playtime! I also love to pet and cuddle with them, if they are affectionate.
