Vet tech with 10+ years experience!

Pet care experience

Hi! My name is Jessica and I'm new to Rover. Not new to taking care of dogs, though! I have over 10 years of experience as a vet tech, and over 15 years total in the veterinary field. I went to URI for Wildlife Biology with a minor in Animal Science. I also have been pet sitting on and off for years in addition to my previous full-time jobs... but I'm now making this my full-time job! I have excellent references from my current pet sitting and dog walking clients available upon request. Currently my service areas are: North Kingstown/Wickford/Saunderstown, East Greenwich, Exeter, Wakefield, Narragansett, and Jamestown. More about me... I have also volunteered at various animal shelters in the past, helped with wildlife rehabilitation, and even interned at Roger Williams Park Zoo. I have also helped out on farms in exchange for getting to ride their horses. One of my favorite pastimes is bird-watching and I am currently a volunteer for the RI Osprey Monitoring Program. So, as you can see, my deep love for animals has been and will always be a lifelong part of me! I am comfortable with animals of all species, shapes, and sizes. But more importantly, I truly love them all. You can rest assured that with my passion, knowledge, experience, and reliability, entrusting me with your beloved furry friend will be the best choice you could make. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to meeting you both! :) When I walk your dog: This is the first time in my life that I don't have a dog of my own, so I would love to get my "fix" this way! It would be a win-win for both of us! I am very active and spend as much time outdoors as possible. I used to run every day with my dog (he was a greyhound mix), so if your dog is a high-energy breed and really needs the exercise, I would love to run with him or her! Otherwise, I am happy to do any activity or walk at any pace that is best for your dog. Every dog is unique, and therefore has different, unique needs.

You could not ask for a more reliable, caring, thorough pet sitter than Jessica. She not only follows through on all additional requests, but treats any critter that she is caring for like her own best friend. She has an amazing intuitive connection with animals, and always checks in with the pet parents regularly, as well as shares pictures and updates after her visits and walks. Anyone who cares about their animals as much as we do can put their mind at ease while working or out of town if Jessica is caring for your best friends!

Jessica has been wonderful for taking care of my boy. I will be the first to admit that I can be somewhat of a “high maintenance” dog mom ;) ...I just expect a lot when it comes to his care. He has a very specific schedule, and specific instructions I require his caregivers to adhere to, and Jessica has far surpassed my expectations. She always follows my instructions to a T, is on time as promised, and stays in excellent communication with me about everything. And I must also add that she takes the best pictures ever of my handsome boy! :) I feel very lucky to have found her as my dog’s walker/caregiver and will definitely use her as my pet sitter as well when I have to go away. Thank you so much again Jessica for everything.

We used Jessica while living in RI over the summer. She was AMAZING. We are last minute people by nature and would always email her at the 11th hour asking for a walk or a sit. She was always able to accommodate our requests. Bear is our Newfoundland mix puppy, and she was wonderful with him (especially considering his size and how rambunctious he has a tendency to be)! She would always send us the cutest photos of him and reports about the fun they had on their walk or visit. We also had her stay with Bear at our house when we went away and it went flawlessly. We recently moved back out to New York for the winter and we are definitely missing Jessica!! I can't say enough great things about her. If you choose her to take care of your beloved pets, you'll be in wonderful hands.

Jessica has consistently done a phenomenal job of taking care of my dog!! I love getting detailed updates and so many adorable pictures while I'm away. And I know she has done a great job because when I return, my pup is relaxed and happy and has barely even noticed that I was gone! My boy needs a lot of attention, play, and exercise to be happy, and it's clear that he always gets that with Jessica.

Information Jessica K. would like to know about your pet

Definitely any aggression issues at all should be noted, whether it is food aggression, territory aggression, aggression towards other animals, or aggression towards people- whether it be women, men, or children. These can be common and doesn't mean the dog is a "bad dog." But having all the facts means that hopefully I can prevent problems before they happen! Other important things to know would be any allergies or special diets-of course- or general feeding preferences, health issues and/or medications, usual amount of daily exercise, any other behavioral issues (or just naughty habits to watch out for...), emergency contact info, and vet info.

A typical day

There is a reason why my House-Sitting nightly rate is higher than some. I believe having just a standard "House-Sitting" rate per night on here is far too vague. What does that mean exactly? That could be interpreted in too many different ways. When I stay in your home overnight to care for your pet or pets (and your home itself!), you can count on me being there for a full 10 hours. So that means I would arrive between 8-10 pm, and stay there until between 6-8 am the next morning. And, of course, if you preferred a longer duration for my stay, that could be arranged as well. And this doesn't apply to only dogs! I love, and am comfortable taking care of: cats, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, mice, rats, birds, snakes, other reptiles and amphibians, farm animals, fish (just not saltwater...), insects... yes, just about anything you may have! And what does the stay include? It would include: evening and morning feedings, of course, and fresh water; evening and morning bathroom breaks, walks, or cleaning of the litter boxes; playtime, if applicable; administering of medications, if needed; general cleanup of any messes that may have occurred during the day; taking in your mail, newspapers, and/or packages; opening or closing of windows or blinds as you prefer; turning lights on and off as you prefer; watering of your plants; updates and pictures sent to you; and... well, anything else you may need! But most importantly... lots and lots of love and cuddles at all times. Any other questions, please feel free to ask me.
