Pet care experience
Hi, my name is Jana! I have been a dog owner ever since I was a child and have been taking care of pets through Rover for almost 8 years now. I started pet-sitting in 2016, moved to Nashville and continued to care for animals on Rover there for 2 years before moving back home. To let you know a little bit about me, I adopted a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Stella in 2013, my first dog I owned as an adult, and she taught me a lot about taking care of a puppy. After only owning dogs since the age of 9, I adopted two cats, who are now age 14 (Gracie) and 7 years old (Serafina), in 2015. Unfortunately, when I moved out-of-state I had to leave them all behind with my parents, where they remain today. I have another cat I adopted from Etowah Valley Humane Society in 2022, named Phoebe.
Reviews
So happy to have Jana with our pup while away!
So thankful to have Jana’s help and care while we are away!
This is the 2nd time we’ve hired Jana to watch our two medium-to-large sized dogs. One of our dogs gets very severe separation anxiety so we have to be extremely choosy about who we hire to watch them. Both times Jana handled the situation like a pro and managed to make our anxious dog comfortable and happy within 24 hours. This is a huge accomplishment, believe me. She’s just terrific with dogs. We will keep hiring her whenever we need help with dog sitting. Thanks again, Jana!
Jana was so helpful. We are grateful for being able to trust her with our home and our sweet pup. thank you

In order to be transparent, I must mention that Rover is not my only job/source of income; I work 6-8 hour shifts at a restaurant in Cartersville about 5 days a week. Your pets must be okay with being left alone for that amount of time. I've always dedicated time to making sure everyone gets walked and fed before and after I leave the house. If you are wanting more constant care, we may not be a good fit for each other.
Information Jana H. would like to know about your pet
During our meeting, I expect to discuss things such as how often feeding and potty breaks happen, whether they're currently taking any medication and any quirks your pets might have. I’ve taken care of quite a few “food-aggressive” dogs, so please don't be shy about if they have a unique feeding routine! A dog’s comfort level is just as important, in my opinion. Please let me know if your dog is skittish or aggressive towards other dogs, so that we can minimize any possible problems on walks. If booking for a holiday, please let me know if your dogs have anxiety when it comes to fireworks (this probably also applies to thunderstorms). I have no problem giving them a little extra love if they get scared. I don't have any breed preferences, either! I've been fortunate enough to take care of everything from the biggest Great Dane, to the smallest and lightest Maltese. The so called "aggressive" breeds are, in my opinion, highly misunderstood and are capable of love just like any other dog. This means I won’t ever rule out your “scary” Bully breed without meeting them first. I promise to treat your dog(s) like the princes and princesses they are.
A typical day
During the summer months, walks will be limited to 15 minutes outside. If the UV index is higher, we may cut the walk even shorter due to mine and the dog’s safety and comfort, unless there are shaded or grassy areas we can walk. Let me know if they have a favorite toy they like to play with or treats they like so it feels like you never left!

Availability
I’m a huge homebody and would love to cuddle up and watch tv with your pups. My goal is to help pet owners rest assured that their fur babies are being well taken care of and that their everyday routine doesn’t change too much while you are gone. I am ONLY available for housesitting at the moment.
