Hi, I'm Jan. I love working with puppies and dogs! I have 10 years experience working for a vet. See review from Dr. Daniel G.

I have a really great roommate I've known for 24 years, and shes' a total animal lover just like I am. She's also a Rover sitter. We co-sit together so the pups get tons of attention.

I worked the puppy section at the animal shelter for about a year. I've trained and shown both puppies and adult dogs in obedience. I've done pet sitting since 1994.

I'm home all day so your furbaby will get all the love and attention he or she needs.

I live in a large house two-story house in a safe neighborhood. I have a doggie door and a large fully fenced yard.

I have three wonderful dogs. All are, fixed, and current on all their shots. They love to play with puppies and are great at helping socialize your little one.

Overnights are done indoors where they are safe and warm. Your dog can be crate trained at night, sleep on a doggie bed, or they can sleep with me if you like. I'll do what ever it takes to make you and your dog happy.

Drop-offs start at 10:30am.
Pick-ups are as late as 12am. Arrangements may be made for later pick-ups with advance notice.

About Jan F.:

I'm a huge dog lover of all breed. I do have some breed and temperament restrictions for boarding, so PLEASE read my profile to make sure your little one will fit in and you can see my rates.

I've either worked with or trained dogs & puppies for over twenty years.

I own three sweeties that just love to have doggie company. I'm a stay at home dog mom with lots of time for your little one.

I've worked for a vet for almost ten years with some tech experience. I can give shots and medications if needed with ease. Please ask for fees if any medication will have to be given.

With me, your fur-baby will be in GREAT hands.

How long have you been a dog lover? Tell us about your history with dogs.

Honestly, I've been a dog lover since birth. I'm the type of person that when I see a dog I ask the owner if I may pet their dog. I believe that there is no such thing as a bad dog, just bad owners.

I've worked with dogs at both an animal shelter for about a year and a speciality surgical vet office for about 10 years. I've babysat for some of the vets I've worked with. I've also had 3 years in obedience training and have done obedience dog shows which we've placed in.

What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences?

I'd just like to know the basic things. Did they have any shots? Is the dog an inside or outside dog? Are they on any medication? Do they have any health problems (including worms, ticks or fleas)? Is there any special needs? Is the dog fixed? Has the pup had any training etc... Anything you'd like to tell me would be great too.

Males over 6 months must be neutered/females over 9 months must be spayed. I cannot accept any dogs in heat. If a female comes into heat during a stay, a non-negotiable additional $5 per day will be added.

No aggressive dogs (food aggressive dogs can be fed alone), high energy dogs, barkers, jumpers, runners (bolting for/out the door) or diggers. I do have a preferred size limit of 55 lbs or 20" at the withers, but I do make exceptions.

There is a slight fee increase for:
• Puppy overnights
• Larger dogs than I normally take in
• Special needs dogs
• Medication

• Daily doggie day care also available. No age limit.

***I do not take in Rotties, Chows, Akitas, Siberian Huskies, Shiba -Inu, Vizslas, Weimaraners, German Shorthaired Pointer, or German Shepherds.

Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency?

I can take your fur-baby to the vet if needed. I two very dependable four wheel drives vehicles, so even the snow won't stop me in case of an emergency. There is a great emergency clinic a mile from my home.

Are you comfortable administering medication?

Very much so. I do booster shots all the time, and I give one of my own dogs eye drops daily. In fact, her eye vet told me I take AMAZING care of her eyes, and I'm very disciplined with it.

• Please ask for fees.

How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day?

As much time as they want. They'll get play time with me, my roommate and my dogs.

If you have a backyard, please describe it.

I live in a two-story home. The area around the stairs is baby gated so there is no access to the front door or stairs. I have a pretty big fully fenced yard. I have a doggie door to help get your puppy housebroken if need be. The yard is grass with some small trees.

Where will my dog sleep?

They can be crated, have a doggie bed or share the bed with me. Sorry, but I won't do any outdoor overnights. I feel a dog is a family member and should be treated as so.

Where will you take my dog on walks? Tell me about it.

For liability reasons I do not take dogs out of my home. I have a huge fenced yard which allows the dogs to get plenty of exercise.

These folks gave my not-so-easy Pomeranian, Tony, wonderful care, kindness, and consideration. He loved his stay with them. Even he can hardly believe he has friends. Jan and Elena are the best!

Jan was terrific - very welcoming and our dog had a great time. She sent a number of photos even though it was only a one night stay, which made me feel better because our pup had some separation anxiety when I left! When I picked him up he was happy, and Jan even gave us a parting doggie gift! We would definitely have McGee stay there again.

Very happy with our experience :)

Jan and Alaina were great. My poodle can be a little testy around other dogs, so I was a bit worried but Jan confidently told me she could handle it and she did! Got lots of updates and pictures during his 2 night stay. Felt comfortable about him being there and will rebook with Jan in the future.

We read such great reviews about Jan, and were desperate for an in-home stay over Memorial Day weekend 2014. We left our corgi, Moe, there on Wednesday night and picked him up Sunday night. Our interactions were fine leading up to the visit, but I felt a bit misled when Jan was talking about Moe's play buddy for the weekend, Tripp. When we arrived, there were at least four other dogs in the home. I would not have picked this place if I had known how crowded it would be, as Moe is way more comfortable one-on-one with another dog. It was a bit noisy when we dropped Moe off, but I figured it was the new arrival and everyone was excited. I had a hard time leaving him, especially since he almost broke the gate trying to get back to us. Picking him up was worse, as Jan wasn't feeling well and didn't speak to us at all. I had no time to ask how the weekend went before we were ushered out of the house, while all the dogs were barking again. Not a great experience overall. Moe seemed fine after we got him home, but needed a few days to get over his visit there. 1 star for availability and 2 stars for picture updates. (Collapse)
My 14 year old just spent 5 days with Jan while we were on vacation. She was very responsive to my inquiry and booking request. During the stay Jan kept me updated with regular messages and pictures. You can tell that she loves dogs. I will definitely be booking future stays with her!

Can't thank these two enough for everything they have done for me and harley.
I would definitely recommend Jan to everyone. She looked after our 1 yr old pup Mika and we couldn't have asked for a better sitter. She kept us up to date by sending pictures at least twice a day and promptly answered all of our messages.

Two of our last few vacations have resulted in us having late arriving flights, and Jan's been so accommodating to us in letting us pick up our little girls late, even after midnight. We much appreciate it!

Our dogs are always happy to see Jan. After several stays, they just make themselves at home now!

Jan is great with puppies. I have had her sit my boy Simon off and on since he was just a few months, he's just over one now. Jan not only helped with training him while at her house but gave me lots of tips and advise I never would have known. I highly recommend Jan.

Jan is the BEST dog sitter with a heart of gold! I had a last minute family emergency requiring several days of travel but despite having to worry about all kinds of things; I never had to worry about my little "needy" cuddle bug. Jan always takes the best care of him. Thanks for all you do for us Jan!!

I worked with Jan Fogel for several years and can attest to her abilities in handling dogs, cats, reptiles, and birds. She has the requisite skills in observation and attention to detail to provide exemplary care for these pets.

I had never left my dogs with a sitter until we used Jan for 3 nights. After our meet and greet I felt very comfortable leaving my 3 dogs in her care. All 3 of them had a great time while we were away and Jan sent us photos and daily updates while we were away. I highly recommend Jan; your pups will be in good hands! Janelle O.
