Putting your reactive pup at ease!

Pet care experience

From golden retrievers to shih tzus, I’ve owned dogs my entire life. Today, my husband and I own an English Springer Spaniel puppy who deals with nervousness and dog reactivity. When we started noticing that he was struggling, we reached out to an IAABC certified trainer. Through that, I realized how fun it was to work with my pup and to make training a blast for him. That process has made me incredibly passionate about helping dogs who might be a little misunderstood. While, I’d never sell myself as a trainer, I’ve spent countless hours working with my pup using positive reinforcement (treats, praise, and play) and if you request it, I’m happy to pass on what I’ve learned. So, whether your furry friend is friendly and confident or a little on the reserved side, I will be vigilant and thoughtful in making your pup’s experience with me a positive one. Safety and comfort are my first priority with your dog. I’d love to have the opportunity to make walks a fun experience for them. I’m looking forward to meeting your furry friend! “Dogs are always doing the best they can, with the education they’ve been given, in the environment we’ve asked them to perform.”- Susan Garrett

Hannah is AMAZING. I am so glad we found her and her knowledge of dogs. She doesn't just walk Buddy- She works with him on pulling, reacting to other dogs or animals just to name a few.

While, I don’t do in-home visits (my own pup is not thrilled by most other dogs), I’m happy to come to you and to care for your pups with love and respect for them and for your home.

Information Hannah S. would like to know about your pet

I’ll absolutely appreciate as much information about your pet as you can provide. As someone who owns a recovering anxious dog, I understand the importance of each interaction in either reinforcing past behavior or creating new behaviors. So, please let me know about any and all triggers that are either overly stressful or overly exciting to your dog so I can be watching out for those on walks and timing treat delivery properly. On the same note, please let me know about any health concerns or allergies in advance. I’m a big believer in using treats and typically stick with dehydrated beef liver as a favorite but if you’re working on weight loss with your pet or have any other concerns, I’m happy to use any treats that you prefer or to abstain from treats. Also, let me know what kind of experiences leave your dog feeling most fulfilled/happily tuckered out by the end of the day. I’m happy to get creative to make sure we can work in their favorite things.

A typical day

I’m a big believer that both mental and physical exercise are important to having a fulfilled dog. Before working with your pet, I’ll be sure to research their breed(s) and activities that can help tire them out physically and mentally. Sometimes, getting outside of the same routine walk can do wonders for bored dogs. Playing “find it” games where dogs search for treats can be a lot of fun, too. I’ll bring some toys of my own to facilitate fetch or tug of war, depending on what your dog enjoys.
