Pet care experience
I grew up in a house familiar to all types of pets - from dogs to cats to rodents, birds, reptiles and fish, all kinds were welcome! Since birth I was always in the care of at least one Chocolate Lab, small dog mix (Chihuahua, Pug or Pomeranian) and later in life a sweet as pie Tuxedo cat, so needless to say I always had a shadow behind me and a deep understanding of how to treat, read and care for pups and cats. Around the time I started caring for children (roughly age 14) I also started babysitting, walking and bathing/light grooming my neighbors and friends fur-kids. I have experience caring for pups of all sizes - from Alaskan Malamutes to Pit Bulls to Beagles and Chihuahuas, as well as a variety of cats - American Shorthairs, Sphinxes and Maine Coons. One of my more notable positions was working as a nanny for a family who owned an 8 year old Pit Bull and eventually adopted another as a puppy so a good deal of my job included raising a 2 month old Pit puppy along with two boys - 5 and 2 years old.

Safety, trust & environment
As far as care in my client's home, I am always transparent with any and all difficulties that may arise with pet sitting/grooming/walking and offer potential solutions. I make sure to maintain a clean and safe environment wherever I am caring for the pup/cat as well as never invite pets into a space where a client's dog or cat may be uncomfortable or subjected to aggression by another pet. I am diligent to keep doors shut and the client's home secure if I am pet sitting or grooming. I apply the same level of caution when walking dogs as well, making sure not to take routes that may be dangerous or hazardous. If the client would like their pup to get a bit of interaction with others I am also open to taking them to a dog park.
Information Haleigh B. would like to know about your pet
Generally before spending time with pups (and cats!) I'd like to inquire about their general behavior at home and with other people. I'd like to know if the pup is at all skittish, aggressive or if there is anything that makes the pup feel uncomfortable including other pets. I always like to ask about any special needs or services the pup requires such as taking medication, exercise regimens or specialty diets, as well as if the pup has any ailments, is prone to ear infections, etc. - don't want to cause any pain when scratching behind the ears!
A typical day
When dog sitting and going out for walks I love to provide the pup with as much stimulating and energy releasing activity as I can. Some of my favorite activities include throwing a ball/frisbee at the park or dog park, going for a run or bike ride, getting energy out on a light/medium hike, and, of course with their parent's permission, making peanut butter & banana frozen treats! If pupsitting in my own home, I often ask their parent to bring some of the pup's favorite toys or items that make them feel comfortable. I also bring toys, cones and squeakies myself if I am dog sitting outside of my home.
