You Go on Vacation ... So Does Your Pet

Pet care experience

A two-story, bright yellow Cape Cod cottage, your pet will be the star of our home for their time here! Wood floors, a massive garden to explore, and a kitty companion, our home will be his home-away-from-home. We are avid dog lovers who dish out love, attention and plenty of exercise. We've been dog parents, dog siblings, dog aunts and uncles ... all in all, we are animal enthusiasts who understand dog and kitty speak and know how to shower your pet with the warmest affection suitable for them. Why I love dog sitting I am a dog lover. My first love affair started with a golden retriever named Sucker, my childhood companion from six months to fourteen years. We played together, stole each other’s toys, and more importantly, shared the gift of love, compassion and understanding. Next came Shinook--more my parents’ third child and our “sibling” than the family dog. He pulled us into hugs with his fore paws, nuzzled us with his soft forehead and just generally displayed the most embarrasing demonstrations of affection at every opportunity. Dogs--animals in general, really--recognize me as sympathetic to their needs, attentive and caring in my demeanor. I have been the surrogate mother to a handful of friends’ and roommates’ dogs over the years, going so far as to accompany one of our best friend’s sick and elderly malamute on his journey over the rainbow bridge while she was heartbreakingly detained half a world away. But, the most significant and rewarding dog experience I have ever had is with my very own Bear Pie. A rescue puppy, we fell for her two differently colored eyes and jet-black, velvet fur. In our home, we clicker-trained her, saved her from a very rare auto-immune disease that attacks the pancrease and introduced her to the world of kitten companionship via the adoption of her sister the kitty, Lynx. Living in Colorado, the daily walk or hike lasted a minimum of an hour--really, a must for our energetic husky-chow-lab mix--and happened rain or shine, hell or high-water. We thank Bear for keeping us fit over the years as we settled into desk jobs and for driving our personal interests into all things outdoors. Through her and Lynx, we’ve learned that love multiplies and that animal friends are kindred spirits. Clearly, they are more like our children than our pets. Tragically, we lost Bear this summer. To call it devastation barely does this loss of a gentle soul justice. We very much miss our Bear Pie. While not ready to adopt another dog, I deeply miss the camaraderie that dogs provide. Meet my pets Lynx is our feline love, warmly known as The Kitts around our house. She is more of a dog-kitty than a cat-kitty, but she might also prefer to stay under the bed while getting used to new house guests. We ask that canine sleepovers bring a crate of their own, just in case our Kitts needs a brief time out. My experience administering medication Yes, we are comfortable administrating medication.

Zoey had a great stay with Gwendoline and Graham! They were very thorough in learning how to care for our sweet pup and it was obvious when we picked her up that she had a great time. Gwendoline was great about sending us photos and updates while we were away. It's always hard to leave her when we travel, but Gwendoline eased our worries. We would definitely recommend Gwendoline...I know Zoey would love to stay with them again!

Rocko had a wonderful time at Gwendoline's home. He got along great with her cat and went on plenty of walks. Thanks for all the pictures!

Graham and Gwendoline’s love of animals extends beyond casual affection into a genuine connection that is almost palpable. Their playful spirit and attentive nature creates an atmosphere of warmth that is both inviting and comforting to humans and animals alike. Having known Graham and Gwendoline over 9 years, and lived with them for 4, I can attest to their dedication and loyalty to furry friends big and small. Love of animals is one piece of a much larger commitment to respecting and enjoying nature through relationships and conscious living. Whether it’s hiking in the mountains, walking around town or sitting outside enjoying the evening air, Graham and Gwendoline enjoy spending time outside and connecting with all levels of life. If I were a dog, or a cat, or a guinea pig or a gold fish, I would Graham and Gwendoline to be my caretakers. I would be comforted to know that all my needs would be met because my happiness and quality of life was of upmost importance to them. Life is better when they are around.
