I have lived with dogs for my entire life. They have provided me incredible companionship and support when other people could not, and I am forever in awe of their ability to do so. Over the course of the six Standard Poodles I have had as a part of my family, three have been trained as Therapy Dogs through the St. John's Ambulance Therapy Dog Program (in Kelowna, BC). In doing this program, I was able to witness how the dogs broke down social and emotional barriers with those who needed support. As a student I was forever grateful for the therapy dog program at U of A. Without visits from furry friends every few months, I would have continued to miss my own dog (who lives in BC) and remained stressed about schoolwork. My sitter super power is the well-roundedness of the care I offer. I have administered medications to my family dogs previously, am very detail oriented, and know dogs are family members who should be treated as such. Having been a nanny for years, I am very well-versed in being consistent with discipline, praise, and routines. These skills are transferrable and necessary in caring for dogs as well, and I know this type of care is a level above the care others may offer. I am available anytime through July and August (except Aug 10-14), and am happy to transit to your home/area to care for your pup(s). I am open to caring for up to 3 dogs within one family at a time, and have experience with mainly large dogs, but am open to caring for dogs of any size!
