Work-from-home 24/7. I SPOIL THEM.

Pet care experience

Hi there. Dogs are God's best creation, hands-down. I started pet-sitting ...not for money, but for sheer love of animals...many years ago (pre-Rover) and have enjoyed every single second. I have felt very in-tune with animals ever since I was a little girl. I used to ride with my grandaddy on the MS Levy where he had all kinds of livestock and always have had a soft spot for all animals and what they go through on Earth. Having had senior dogs and having worked in vet pharmaceutical sales for 8 years, I am very much capable of any special needs yours might require. I have administered diabetic insulin shots, given loads of medications, and provided physical therapy and massage for dogs, as well. I have traveled the world to 56 countries over 6 continents and seeing how animals are treated differently is often the hardest part of travel for me.

Emily was very kind and accommodating for my dog child, Domino. I really don’t think he was ready to leave at the pickup time. If you’re looking for a sitter that’s kindhearted, loves animals, ANNNDDD has a clean home…..look no further, Emily is THE ONE!!! I will gladly rebook in the future.

Being home 24/7, frequent potty breaks are easy. So is all-day love and attention. :) If you need a physical or virtual meet-and-greet, no problem. Being the avid traveler I am, no one understands the anxiety of leaving one's fur babies better than I. Because of this, I give your baby the care I would want for my little Molly when leaving her in another's hands. It is a huge decision, right?! Please pack any creature-comforts from home you think might bring them peace while you are are away. I welcome detailed instruction documents, where you tell me all their little personality quirks! :)

Information Emily S. would like to know about your pet

DROP-OFF and PICK-UP: I teach English online to kids in China every morning from 5:30 - 8am (and some evenings), so pick-up and drop-off must be worked around these times. If you have an early-morning departure, please consider bringing them the evening before. Oh and for anyone living closer to Hendersonville (where my boyfriend lives), it could possibly be worked out that you drop them off and pick them up closer to *your* home, especially if near the weekend. --------------------------------------------------------------- FIRST MEETING / DROP-OFF: If you have a bellyband (male) / diaper (female) for your baby, PLEASE bring it. I have a few at my house, if you do not, but they are mostly for smaller dogs. As a pet sitter, accidents and dogs' marking behavior is part of the job, I know. However, precautions can be made to limit these urine smells ahead of time, which will help other new dogs entering my home to not be encouraged to urinate. All of this is from experience. :) Being housebroken in your home unfortunately does not mean they are housebroken in a new floor plan with new smells, where they don't yet trust their new human (me) to regularly take them outside. I have only kept a handful of dogs that didn't have a few accidents in the first 24 hours. I want your dogs to love me, have fun, and have open access to all areas without the diapers but often, the diaper is needed in the first few hours. If you have any questions / concerns regarding this request, please ask! I want you to know I practice what I preach and use them for my dog in any new environment, as well, even though she is fully potty-trained. You just never know w/ dogs in new surroundings and smells... ***** PLEASE KNOW....the bellyband / diaper comes off within either about 30 minutes or 1-2 hours. The goal is for it to be off ASAP, as taking them on and off is cumbersome for me! I prefer them OFF but we have to go through acclimation to get there. To acclimate the dog quickly, I physically take the dog outside to use the bathroom at my house every 30-45 minutes for the first 6 hours. It's work, but it helps them understand that I will be relied on to take them out. After they understand that, the bands come off for good. For most dogs, it is a quick acclimation process. ---------------------- HOUSE SITS: I will keep *any size animal* in your home. I am also happy to do any general tasks your home might need. However, if you are looking for a cleaning service, that I am not. I hope your home is semi-tidy upon my arrival. ------------------------- REQUIREMENTS: monthly flea/tick prevention is a must, as no flea infestations desired please! :) ------------------------- PRICE ADJUSTMENTS FOR THE FOLLOWING TO BE EXPECTED: 1) FIRST STAY ONLY: If you are *brand new to Rover*, ask me about getting $20 off. Rover offers this special! 2) OWNERS OF PUPPIES AND ADVANCED SENIOR AGE DOGS: From much experience, there is a lot of extra care required. Puppies excessively chew non-toy objects, are into any and everything and have many "accidents". Senior dogs lose control of bowels, take multiple meds, and experience sensory loss and confusion more often than not (which causes more accidents). Because of a need to almost have a 24/7 'watchful eye' anytime they get up, I charge more for them. Thank you for understanding. NOTE: I am hugely transparent, so should your puppy or senior dog be the "exception to the rule," I will gladly refund this surcharge. It's only fair. I've done this for a number of dogs that didn't fit the puppy/senior molds. If you are outside my normal sit range of distance, I will probably need to charge for gas but we can discuss that later if it ever comes up.

A typical day

OUR DAY: I live in a townhome with a doggy door, so there will be full access to my house and small fenced-in yard 24/7. I have one sweet 7.5 lb dog named Molly who thinks she is a human and doesn't really "play" with other dogs, but is never aggressive. She just doesn't know how to be anything but the little human girl she thinks she is. :) Your doggy is welcomed to sleep with me in my bed, if you are ok with that. If not, whatever setup you wish! Plenty of playtime & walks! Treats and food at your discretion. ---------------------- WEEKENDS: I am normally at my my boyfriend's home in Hendersonville on Old Hickory Lake, as it's the only time I see him. Mitch (shown in my photos) is a huge dog lover, like myself. He has an extremely well-behaved Aussie that has gone through lots of doggy training school and is fully trained on sign language commands. Kili loves other dogs and there is zero chance of any aggression on her end. However, if you would prefer I not take your baby to his home, please let this be known or I'll assume you are fine with it. FWIW, over there, we have a very nice baby safety gate around his rather large back patio that we spend a lot of time on in the warmer months. We recently bought this to prevent his granddaughter from wandering into his pool and the lake and it's been a huge blessing with the dogs' safety / freedom, as well. This enables us to let the dogs hang with us in the evenings...untethered and free to roam around. Anytime not in the fenced-in back patio, I would have them on a leash, of course. Your fur baby will NOT be neglected!

Availability

In Oct 2016, I made a life change from Corporate America to working-from-home, giving me a much more relaxed lifestyle these days. I rarely leave, unless it's grocery pick-up or visiting my boyfriend (Hendersonville) on the weekends. I will spoil your little one(s) rotten. I get up about 5-6am every day to teach English to kids in China and then I am a (remote) executive assistant during the day, where I work about 3-4 more hours.
