Vet tech critter care

Pet care experience

I've been wrangling dogs and cats in veterinary hospitals and shelters since 2000, and am ready to spend less time arguing with them and more time playing with them ;) While I have given more vaccines than tennis balls, I've gotten plenty of experience on the side with walking dogs, sitting cats, and doing some training/behavior modification both with clients of my own, and through shelter foster programs. Some advantages of hiring a veterinary nurse to walk your dog or stop in on your cat: 1) I can administer any kind of medication, whether it's oral or with a needle or on the skin or in the ears or eyes. 2) I can do stuff like trim nails and express anal glands. May save you a trip to the vet! 3) I'll know what do do if something happens to your pet when you're not there, such as being bitten by another dog, or having a seizure, or blowing their cruciate ligament playing fetch. I'm also great with wound care and surgical recovery. 4) I have a special affinity for cranky cats. I moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2016, still having fun exploring parks and woods with my dog (and yours!). Also I'm a good photographer and will win your favor with super cute pics of your critter. I'm available mid-day Monday through Friday, with the potential for more availability as I build clientele and can break free of the veterinary grind. I have more references than you'll want to call, and tons of poop bags.

I met Emily through the pet hospital that we both worked at; bustling and intense are 2 words that would have described the atmosphere there at any given time. Emily was grace under pressure on the toughest of days, but she is also one of those exceptional humans that has a deep understanding and connection to animals. I watched as she adopted her beloved Delilah, a rescue dog that was quite fearful initially but within months Emily had transformed her into a well-behaved and respectful companion. It should be noted that Emily also has a big love for the felines and took care of my senior cat when numerous medications had to be administered. Smart, trustworthy and experienced, I highly recommend Emily as your future pet-sitter.

Emily was referred to us by our veterinarian at Mission Pet Hospital in San Francisco. The year was 2007. We had become stewards of a 7 month old female black standard poodle named Kate. For10 years Emily, her dog Delilah and her cats Goat and Marc watched Kate for us while we out of town or needed some extra help making sure that Kate was entertained and well looked after. From the beginning we knew our Kate would be in good hands. Emily likes to hike, camp and fish. Kate had a lot of adventures over the years up in the mountains or around the city while in the care of Emily and Delilah. We received regular check-in and images of Kate exploring the world with these two. If there were ever any issues - Emily as a certified Vet. Tech - knew exactly how to handle the situation. Not once did Kate come home from a trip up in the mountains with any ticks. Not an easy feat given the curly thick hair on a poodle. This is an example of the level of care and attention Emily gave to our Kate. It's now 2017. Kate will be turning 11 in April. We now live in Manhattan. We all miss Emily and Delilah very much. It's an honor to recommend this amazing woman to hep care for your animal. Sincerely, Jeff
