Pet care experience
***Update! We have officially decided to go forward with adopting a dog of our own, so are going to be trying to foster dogs somewhat continuously with the hopes of finding our pup! We are more than happy to continue dogsitting for Rover clients, but do want to let you know that there will more likely than not be another large dog (perhaps bully breed) in our apartment. One of our main criteria is that our future pup be dog-friendly, so you can expect the other dog to be a giant mush with other pooches. The dog will also be crated when we are not around to supervise, so they wouldn't be left alone without a human to watch them. Thanks!!!*** Hi everyone! My name is Elspeth and my fiance and I live in the dog-friendly neighborhood of Park Slope! Since we moved into our apartment in July 2016, we have fostered 22 rescue dogs and dogsat for 38 (and counting!) Rover dogs. These pups have ranged in age from 6 weeks - 13 years, in weight from 1lb (!!!!) - 85lbs, and in temperament from the cuddliest of cuddlers to those who need their personal space, so we are more than comfortable with dogs of all shapes, sizes, and personalities. A bit about us: Bruce is 26 and is in law school at Columbia. I (Elspeth) am 28, a 5th year doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology. Being students, we have fairly atypical schedules, and spend much of our week at home working (or pretending to work!) on our various papers. We typically do walks 4x/day (morning, afternoon, after work, before bed) but are happy to stick to your schedule. Come September, Bruce and I will both be out of the house from 8:30-5:30 on Mondays, and would use a trusted dog walker to relieve your pup for the afternoon walk (or if you would prefer / your dog can hold it, we will just scurry on home quickly!). We absolutely love dogs, and have so enjoyed the relationships we have developed with our various Rover pooches and their parents! Because we know going to a new home can be stressful for dogs, we like to keep our apartment at a 1-dog maximum (or however many there are from the same household). That being said, we do have a number of dogs whose temperaments we know quite well at this point whom we would trust to be around other dogs under appropriate supervision. If you are okay with your dog sharing space with another pooch, let us know! We always like to be available for dogs we have already sat for, especially since we know finding a new sitter can be tough, so even if we've sat for you before but we seem booked on our calendar, please feel free to reach out! We may just appear booked because we're sitting for another dog, but it's possible that dog is cool with having a friend to bunk with in which case we'll welcome you with open arms :). Looking forward to hearing from you!
Reviews
Elspeth is hands down the best dog sitter in town. She cares for the dogs she watches like they are her own. Our dog Bruno loved every second when she was watching him. I know because she was so good about sending photos during the stays! I love how she kept in touch and sent photos regularly. If we hadn’t moved out of town we would have used Elspeth forever!
Another excellent stay with Elspeth. We came home to a very happy puppy.
Elspeth took such great care of our little Zoey! My husband and I felt very confident in Elspeth’s ability to care for her..and play with her too! We were able to tell right from the start that Elspeth has a true love for dogs. We came home to a very happy puppy. We will definitely be using her again!
Elspeth was a perfect babysitter for Kookie. She sent pictures each day & Kookie came home happy, well fed & very loving. I'm so happy that I have someone in the neighborhood to use to board him with confidence. Thank you for this service.
