Pet care experience
I have an 11 year-old dachshund, Dixie, who now lives with my mom in North Carolina, and I live with and take care of my girlfriend's two dogs - a Lab/Weimaranar mix, Lex (10) and a Pitbull/Basset Hound mix, Hugo (6). I am also the proud Aunt to my sisters 1 year-old Pomsky, Alonso, who I have cared for a lot as well. I love all of these pups as my babies! In terms of professional experience, I spent 8 months in 2020 caring for Primates (baboons, lemurs, macaques, and other species). I also rescued and fostered a kitten for a month last year, which gave me a newfound love of cats. My favorite part of working with and caring for animals is getting to know them. Every animal has a unique personality, and when you spend time learning about them it makes your bond stronger and much more rewarding. I also love building trust with animals. It is such a beautiful and fulfilling process, and one that humbles me and reminds me that each animal has his or her own story, set of boundaries, needs, fears, and desires.

Dani is the most caring pet parent to her own dogs, and that carries over into her love and care for other's pets. She has cared for my cat, Stanley, multiple times! Shes taken him on walks (yes he's a walking cat!) and made sure he's happy and safe. Her past experience working as an Animal Caretaker also proves her qualifications to provide your pet with the best care possible. There are very few people I trust as much as Dani with watching my boy, so you can be certain you'll be in good hands.
Dani is INCREDIBLE with dogs. I've never met someone who loves animals more. She's best friends with my dog, and is amazing at taking care of him. She's responsible, sweet and respectful. I could not recommend Dani more as a dog walker/sitter!

I will take a walking route suitable for your dogs needs (e.g. your neighborhood, a route with many or few people/dogs, a route with few cars, etc.). I can also take your dog to a dog park, if that's something you'd like. I will ask if your dog has any special needs before we walk and I will appropriately and properly use the equipment (e.g. leash, harness) that you provide me. I will only let your dog approach people and other dogs if that's something you would like or are okay with, but if I'm unsure I will default to no interaction with other people and dogs. Also, for safety purposes, I won't introduce your dog(s) to the ones I live with for any reason.

How long - in minutes and distance - they typically walk, as well as the minimum and maximum walk times/distances they require. I also want to know how they deal with other people and dogs that they encounter on the street, trails, and/or parks. I need to know their triggers/fears, special needs (if any), preferences, commands (both which ones you use and how well they respond to them), and how they do on a leash, especially if they are a big dog.
A typical day
I can take your dogs to a dog park, on a hike, or on a regular neighborhood walk. If you have a backyard and you prefer I play with them there, that works too. I can also being them to my backyard to run around and play, if you want (in which case I will keep my dogs here in separate rooms from your dog).

Availability
If your pet requires a 20-30 minute walk and you are in my neighborhood, I can walk them during the day on my lunch break, as I work from home. Otherwise, I can walk them between 4pm and 9pm on weekdays. At the moment, I'm free almost every weekend, and for the entire day. I will update my availability if that changes.
