Description:

I grew up on a small ranch in North County San Diego, was in 4H, and absolutely love all animals. The main reason I bought a house (as opposed to a condo or town home) was so I could have a yard for dogs. My home is my castle for myself and my two beloved boxers, an oasis right smack dab in the middle of LA.

I work from home, so I'm always around, and doggy play breaks happen often. A doggy door and extremely secure yard allow for all day indoor/outdoor play access or just lounging in the sun, as well as your peace of mind. I send photos of your dog all throughout their stay, so you can see just what they're up to as well! Large, comfy, dog-friendly couches are a great place for everyone to crash into a puppy puddle at the end of a long day...

Being an Eagle Scout taught me to always "be prepared," so in case of anything unexpected, the vet's office is just 3 blocks away. If your pup needs any medications, I am personally fully capable of administering oral meds, as well as subcutaneous and intramuscular injections. All dogs staying a week or longer will be offered a complimentary bath with a high quality flea shampoo. I offer multi-dog and extended stay (Longer than 10 days) discounts. I also offer daycare services for only $20.

I'm centrally located in mid city, 5 minutes from USC - and just 20 minutes from downtown, Hollywood, LAX, and the west side. Drop your dog off on the way to the airport, it's probably on the way! I also offer drop off and pick up services-rates are very reasonable and depend on time of day and distance-please contact me for a quote.

Although my dogs may be a little spoiled, seeing as they sleep on the couches and my bed, they are well disciplined and obey even whispered commands (OK, sometimes they get a little overexcited meeting new dogs at meet and greets...haha.). If there are habits you'd rather your dog not pick up while staying with us, getting up on the couch, for example, I have no problem following your rules for your dog's stay. I want your dog's stay with us to give you as much peace of mind as possible, before, during, and after.

About Brian S.:

I've been doing this a long time! Feel free to contact me about speaking to my clients personally...they love to rave about me!

How long have you been a dog lover? Tell us about your history with dogs.

I have had dogs all my life. Growing up on the ranch, we had 6 all at the same time!

What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences?

First and foremost, I like to know if they have any aggression issues. I like to know if they're housebroken and neutered, although neither one of those are deal breakers. I also like to know if they have all their shots.

Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency?

Yes, I have a SUV with seatbelt attachments for dog harnesses, as well as a back seat sling so they don't fall down into the floor area.

Are you comfortable administering medication?

Yes. Having grown up on a ranch and participating in 4H, I am fully capable of administering oral meds, as well as subcutaneous and intramuscular injections.

How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day?

I work from home, and am home 23+ hours a day most days. The dogs are free to roam the house, but most of them tend to get attached to me and follow me around the house.

If you have a backyard, please describe it.

My backyard is a large courtyard, about 20' x 35'. On 3 sides it is surrounded by my house, garage, and neighbor's garage. On the 3rd side is a 7' tall cinder block wall. There is a huge avocado tree, as well as a large orange tree and lemon tree to provide lots of shade.

Where will my dog sleep?

The dogs sleep with me in my bedroom, either on my bed, the sofa chair, or on one of the dog beds on the floor. You're also welcome to bring a crate or dog bed of your own if you wish, if that's what they're most used to at home.

Where will you take my dog on walks? Tell me about it.

As you can see in my photos, my neighborhood is fairly quiet and great for walking around. It's got tons of grass, trees, and bushes and flowers for them to sniff and do their business on.

I have been taking my dogs to Brian for a while now. They love it over there!
...that I could find a place to leave my dog and not have to worry my first time away from him. I got Brinkley a few months ago and as a rescue dog, he has some behavioral issues like bolting out the front door or being snippy when he first meets new people. I was worried. But Brian assured me that he has an extensive gate system to keep his dogs inside and he introduced Brinkley slowly to the other dogs. Every day I was gone he sent me pictures of Brinkley so that I knew he was safe and secure. I wasn't back in time to pick Brinkley up so I was even able to arrange a drop off of my dog to my roommate at my house, which was extremely convenient. Glad to know Brian is out there and I am sure I will utilize his services again! (Collapse)
My dogs love staying with Brian.
Brian is very helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating. My dogs used to hate their doggie day care, but they love going to Brian's house. He does a great job. The dogs are coming back happy and their behavior has improved dramatically.

We just recently went for short weekend trip, which was great because we know with Brian, we didn't have to worry about our pups.. But this review meant for the 2 weeks vacation that we had on February..Okay, I know this review is long overdue, but I really need to let everyone know that Brian is one perfect dogsitter I ever met! We went for 2 weeks vacation to visit families, it was worried me so much since we never left our pups that long. One of our pup has digestion problem that require special diet, extra attention, and ANXIETY PROBLEM. Also distance and -14 hours of time differences, just added more into it. Brian listened to our instructions and told me (thousands of times =p ) not worry about my pups. Anyway, Brian was very prompt in giving us updates, emails and pictures and from pictures that he sent I could see my pups were enjoying their stay.. Vacation went super and Brian was part of our great vacation. He's surely one dogsitter that we can brag about. =) -Orie (Collapse)

This was Bronco's first overnight with other dogs and a new caretaker. Brian was responsive to all of our requests and answered all our questions. Brian has a very calm and grounded presence and appeared to have lots of dog experience. My husband and I loved receiving pictures of Bronco during his stay. Sure looked like he played all day with fun pack of other dog friends!! He came home very tired. Doggie jet lag!

Brian was very accommodating and sent photos periodically while I was away. I would definitely recommend him.
This was the very first time my doggies had to stay with someone they did not know. After reading all the great reviews about Brian and the great care he provides, my concerns were minimized. When we dropped them off, immediately Coco and Penny felt at home and excited to make new friends!! It was really nice to receive Brian's photo updates of our doggies and I looked forward to receiving them every day. Brian took such good care of our 14yr old lab Coco who had back issues and our 4yr old energetic lab Penny. This is the only place we'll leave our doggies when we need a sitter. Thank you Brian for taking care of them like family. (Collapse)
Max had his first stay with Brian while I was out of town for a long weekend. I was concerned about Max because I have had the same pet sitter for the last 3 years, and this was the first time I used the rover site. I wanted to find someone that could be a consistent pet sitter for Max on my trips out of town. Brian was great with Max, you can tell he really knows a lot about dogs. He sent me daily pictures of Max, which relieved my concerns. When I picked up Max he was excited to see me but by the time we got home he went to bed, I could tell that playing with all the other dogs all weekend had been a ton of excitement and fun for him and that he was exhausted! I was really happy to know that Max had his own vacay while I was on mine. (Collapse)
I loved getting my puppy back all tired and I could tell over the next few days just how much he learned from being around all the older (and wiser!) dogs. It's great when dogs can learn great social skills from other dogs. Brian also sent pictures though-out the day which was super nice of him because I'd never been away from my puppy before. It helped to ease the worry!

Brian is simply a genuine friend who over the past three years, I've learned many things from. He's amazing with animals and is a patient, caring person. I'm privileged to have him in my life.

We left our 3 year old pup Luna with Brian over Christmas. It was truly amazing how intuitive and in tune he was with our dog as well as with the others in the "pack" he was caring for. He was so flexible, available last minute and we would trust him anytime with our dog. We felt instantly comfortable with him and would leave Luna with him anytime we are out of town and unable to bring her with us. We highly recommend Brian! (Collapse)

I'm always traveling for work—sometimes at the last minute—and Brian has become my go-to guy for Cassius, my four-year old shar pei/lab. There are a bunch of other regulars, and he always comes home pretty tuckered out, so I'm guessing my little dude has a pretty good time playing with the other "guests."

Brian is the best person to leave your dog with.. ever! My dog is small and very nervous but after leaving her with Brian for a couple of days she was much more socialized and happier! I would highly reccommend Brian to any dog owner!

I used to leave my teddy boy at a pet hospital in echo park because they offer good rates everytime I travel and cannot take him with me. When I come get him after a couple days he sure is excited to see me and seems to tell me that he didint enjoyed his stay in the kennels. After a few times of same experiences, I decided to look around for a better pet sitter that e could play with other dogs while im away so he could also enjoy while im gone. Im glad I found Brian from rover.com! After all the reviews I have read, I could now tell how awesome it was while I was away and dont have to worry about my lil teddy. He religously send me updates about teddy-pictures and videos which made me feel at ease and still manage to keep track on him. I am very happy with his service because teddy looked really happy and he did had a party with all his new friends especially Brians dog Freya. Thank you so much! I will surely come back to you!
