Description:

I grew up on a small ranch in North County San Diego, was in 4H, and absolutely love all animals. The main reason I bought a house (as opposed to a condo or town home) was so I could have a yard for dogs. My home is my castle for myself and my two beloved boxers, an oasis right smack dab in the middle of LA.

I work from home, so I'm always around, and doggy play breaks happen often. A doggy door and extremely secure yard allow for all day indoor/outdoor play access or just lounging in the sun, as well as your peace of mind. Large, comfy, dog-friendly couches are a great place for everyone to crash into a puppy puddle at the end of a long day. I send lots of photos of every single dog all throughout their stay, so you can see just what they're up to as well! The reason Rover shows only 8% is because I choose to send the photos privately via text, rather than using the Rover website, which would display your photos for all to see.

Being an Eagle Scout taught me to always "be prepared," so in case of anything unexpected, the vet's office is just 3 blocks away. If your pup needs any medications, I am personally fully capable of administering oral meds, as well as subcutaneous and intramuscular injections. All dogs staying a week or longer will be offered a complimentary bath with a high quality flea shampoo. I offer multi-dog and extended stay (Longer than 10 days) discounts. I also offer daycare services for only $20.

I'm centrally located in mid city, 5 minutes from USC - and just 20 minutes from downtown, Hollywood, LAX, and the west side. Drop your dog off on the way to the airport, it's probably on the way! I also offer drop off and pick up services-rates are very reasonable and depend on time of day and distance-please contact me for a quote.

Although my dogs may be a little spoiled, seeing as they sleep on the couches and my bed, they are well disciplined and obey even whispered commands (OK, sometimes they get a little overexcited meeting new dogs at meet and greets...haha.). If there are habits you'd rather your dog not pick up while staying with us, getting up on the couch, for example, I have no problem following your rules for your dog's stay. I want your dog's stay with us to give you as much peace of mind as possible, before, during, and after.

About Brian S.:

I've been doing this a long time! Feel free to contact me about speaking to my clients personally...they love to rave about me!

How long have you been a dog lover? Tell us about your history with dogs.

I have had dogs all my life. Growing up on the ranch, we had 6 all at the same time!

What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences?

First and foremost, I like to know if they have any aggression issues, with either food or toys. What is their socialization experience? Have you boarded them before? Do you go to dog parks? I like to know if they're housebroken and neutered, although neither one of those are deal breakers. I also like to know if they have all their shots. Unfortunately, I no longer accept Huskies, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Weimareiners, or Rottweilers.

Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency?

Yes, I have a SUV with seatbelt attachments for dog harnesses, as well as a back seat sling so they don't fall down into the floor area.

Are you comfortable administering medication?

Yes. Having grown up on a ranch and participating in 4H, I am fully capable of administering oral meds, as well as subcutaneous and intramuscular injections.

How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day?

I work from home, and am home 23+ hours a day most days. The dogs are free to roam the house, but most of them tend to get attached to me and follow me around the house.

If you have a backyard, please describe it.

My backyard is a large courtyard, about 20' x 35'. On 3 sides it is surrounded by my house, garage, and neighbor's garage. On the 3rd side is a 6' tall cinder block wall. I have 2 very small ponds (28 gal) with waterfalls, just for the soothing sound of trickling water. There is a huge avocado tree, as well as a large orange tree and lemon tree to provide lots of shade.

Where will my dog sleep?

The dogs sleep with me in my bedroom, either on my bed, the sofa chair, or on one of the dog beds on the floor. You're also welcome to bring a crate or dog bed of your own if you wish, if that's what they're most used to at home.

Where will you take my dog on walks? Tell me about it.

As you can see in my photos, my neighborhood is fairly quiet and great for walking around. It's got tons of grass, trees, and bushes and flowers for them to sniff and do their business on. I take my responsibility for your dog seriously, so I don't take them hiking, to dog parks/beaches, or anywhere off leash at all. Period.

Floyd

Age: 10 years, 1 mo. old
Weight: 65 lbs.
Breed: Boxer

Floyd is incredibly sweet and very obedient. He just wants to be around other people and dogs, with his head in your lap, being scratched behind the ears...

Roxy

Age: 6 years, 6 mo. old
Weight: 65 lbs.
Breed: Boxer

Roxy is Floyd's sidekick. She's younger and a bit more playful than he is...

Brian was great. Our puppy had lots of playmates to sap her energy the whole time she was there!
Our dog Pepo stayed with Brian for a weekend. This was our first time doing something like this and receiving pics from Brian throughout the weekend was comforting for us. We could tell that he was being taken care of and he was thoroughly enjoying his stay with Brian. I would definitely recommend Brian to everyone and will stay in touch with him for our next getaway. Thank you Brian!!
Brian is great! I had to make last minute schedule changes and he accommodated them with no issues. My dog Bingo had a great time with him. He sent me pictures while I'm out on vacation. I highly recommend Brian for taking care of your dog/s. Thanks Brian for taking care of Bingo! Until next time.
This was our puppy's second stay at Brian's house, and she seems to absolutely love it there. She comes home happy and tired out from playing all day. Brian clearly knows dogs very well, patiently answers the silliest questions with expertise, and sends pictures regularly - which are SO comforting when you're away from your furry BFF!
Brian is awesome... and once again my dogs had a great time at his house! They came back happy, healthy and tired from playing all day!! Thank you Brian!!
Brian was very responsive about Kora and sent us plenty of pictures during her week-long stay. Kora had a blast playing with all the other dogs.

We went to the beach for a few days - a trip we typically take with our boxer Delilah. But we decided to have a two day test run with Brian as we plan to have her stay with him for two weeks in August. All went well. He sent pix and an honest appraisel of her visit, making it clear she was a little off her game at first, but she settled in for a fine visit. We're confident that her longer August stay with Brian will go splendidly. Nice going, Brian...and Delilah. (Collapse)

Another trouble-free stay with Brian, who was extremely helpful and flexible when our travel schedule changed at the last-minute.
Just wanted to say Brian made a very nervous dog mommy feel at ease. This was the first time I left deuce with a sitter Brian was very reassuring and understanding of my nerves. He allowed me to do a house visit before hand to make sure Deuce interacted well with his other dogs. He constantly sent me pictures reassuring Deuce was happy and being taken care of. He was accommodating to my schedule. I would def use Brian again and recommend him to anyone. (Collapse)

Brian is simply a genuine friend who over the past three years, I've learned many things from. He's amazing with animals and is a patient, caring person. I'm privileged to have him in my life.

We left our 3 year old pup Luna with Brian over Christmas. It was truly amazing how intuitive and in tune he was with our dog as well as with the others in the "pack" he was caring for. He was so flexible, available last minute and we would trust him anytime with our dog. We felt instantly comfortable with him and would leave Luna with him anytime we are out of town and unable to bring her with us. We highly recommend Brian! (Collapse)

I'm always traveling for work—sometimes at the last minute—and Brian has become my go-to guy for Cassius, my four-year old shar pei/lab. There are a bunch of other regulars, and he always comes home pretty tuckered out, so I'm guessing my little dude has a pretty good time playing with the other "guests."

Brian is the best person to leave your dog with.. ever! My dog is small and very nervous but after leaving her with Brian for a couple of days she was much more socialized and happier! I would highly reccommend Brian to any dog owner!

I used to leave my teddy boy at a pet hospital in echo park because they offer good rates everytime I travel and cannot take him with me. When I come get him after a couple days he sure is excited to see me and seems to tell me that he didint enjoyed his stay in the kennels. After a few times of same experiences, I decided to look around for a better pet sitter that e could play with other dogs while im away so he could also enjoy while im gone. Im glad I found Brian from rover.com! After all the reviews I have read, I could now tell how awesome it was while I was away and dont have to worry about my lil teddy. He religously send me updates about teddy-pictures and videos which made me feel at ease and still manage to keep track on him. I am very happy with his service because teddy looked really happy and he did had a party with all his new friends especially Brians dog Freya. Thank you so much! I will surely come back to you!
