We'll love your dog like our own.

Pet care experience

Your dog will be one of the pack when he stays with us.My husband and I both love dogs with a passion. In 37 years of marriage, there has never been a time when we haven't had at least one around the house. It's just not a family without a dog. There are no children here who could cause a problem for a visiting pack member and our two year old boxer, Dewey, is very sweet. Together, the three of us will make sure your dog is happy, secure, well-fed , and entertained. Our house is dog friendly. It is not always neat, because dogs just have to play, but it is clean and safe. We have a big fenced- in backyard that we use for play, exercise and bathroom trips - always supervised. Our house is located on a quiet cul-de-sac. You'll like us and Dewey is always excited to make a new friend. Your dog will be one of the family here and he'll get the affection and care every animal deserves. About this sitter: I am a 60 year old retired librarian. My husband of 37 years is in the organic pest control business. We have 2 grown sons. Both of us are passionate about our love for animals -dogs being #1 on our list. Why I love dog sitting: I got my first puppy when I was 5. He was a border collie mix who enjoyed "herding" me around the yard. There were no other children around where I lived, so he was my best friend. He lived to be 16. That put me near the end of my college days and right after college I got married to a man with a boxer. When we got our first house we got a female boxer named Fruta . She was a great dog for our two sons to grow up with. She was protective and a good play companion at the same time. She got sick when she was about 13 and we had to put her to sleep. Not long after that we got a male boxer named Buster and a Boston terrier named Snuffy. We also adopted a 6 month old female boxer named Macy whose family couldn't keep her well in an apartment. They were all great friends with each other, with our family and anyone they met. Macy got cancer and died at age 10. Buster and Snuffy died within a few months of each other in the Spring of 2013. They were 11 and 12. We took it hard. We debated about getting another dog but when we saw a picture of Dewey, our current boxer, we knew we had to have him. Including the breeder, we were his 4th home in the first seven months of his life. He showed evidence of physical neglect and emotional abuse and came to us skinny, sick and skittish. He is now a big ball of energy and, though it takes a while for him to get used to some humans, he is happy and excited when he has another dog to play with. With our dogs, my husband and I have been through puppy hood, seizures, arthritis, one of them getting hit by a car and losing an eye, deafness, 1/2 of a wiffle ball in another's stomach, an 11 pound Boston who would start a fight with an 80 pound boxer EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, cancer, the sadness and joy of a rescue slowly learning to trust and love us, and the bittersweet stages of their aging, slowing down and having to be carried up stairs and helped onto the bed. We would do it all again without a thought. We pray hard that Dewey will have a long and healthy life with us. That's where we are now. I don't think there is anything as dog sitters that we can't handle and we take seriously the responsibility of making sure our guest dogs feel secure and loved. Meet my pets: 1 male boxer.Big, spoiled baby. About my yard: We have a deck about 10' x 12'. The yard is a big rectangle (longer than it is wide), grassy, flat and with many trees and shrubs. The whole backyard is fenced in with a wooden rail/ wire fence. I will be present for all outdoor time. My experience administering medication: I have had a lot of experience giving oral and topical medications. We know how to give shots, too.

We're the crazy dog owners that rarely go out without our pup and were totally freaked out to go on vacation and leave our little princess with a stranger. As it turns out, we need Scout more than she needs us. Bonnie (and I think more specifically Dewey) took great care of Scout. We knew she was going to be well taken care of when she rushed right into Bonnie's house when we dropped her off. We're confident Scout was happy. She came back to us safe and healthy. For future travel, Bonnie is definitely our top choice.

Bonnie has watched our dogs twice and it is very obvious that they are taken care of and loved while with her. Her dog Dewey is also great playmate with our dogs!

Boo Boo"s stay at Bonnie's is always an excellent experience. Boo Boo loves going to Bonnie's and playing with their dog Dewey. They just get along just great and enjoy playing with each other. Bonnie and her husband goes the extra mile in caring for your pet when your pet stays at their home. Boo Boo always get excited, when we arrive at Bonnie's home, because she knows there is something good and some good people awaiting to greet her on the other side of the door. Their dog Dewey is just as happy to have Boo Boo to come and play with him. Boo Boo is always clean and happy when I pick her up from Bonnie's. I don't know what I would do without Bonnie and her husband when it comes to caring for my dog. This sitter is definitely a winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bonnie is an excellent host sitter for my dog Boo Boo. Boo Boo gets excited every time she goes to Bonnie's house and gets to stay and play with Bonnie's dog Dewey. Boo Boo and Dewey get along very well. It's like two children first waking up on Christmas morning, discovering what Santa has left them to play with this time! Dewey is a wonderful, friendly, playful, Boxer and very protective of his guests that he has to play with and his home. Bonnie and her husband takes extra pride in caring for the animals that they host sit in their home. I wouldn't even begin to think of anyone else caring for Boo Boo, than Bonnie and her husband. I recommend them to everyone that I know who is looking for a great sitter for their animals. With Bonnie and her husband, you know your animal is in safe hands, will be well taken care of and in a clean and safe environment.

Information Bonnie K. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know if they are current on vaccinations; what is the owner's "snack" policy ; is the dog house broken; any fears the dog may have, such as thunder storms; is the dog on medication that I will need to administer; and does he have special toys or games he likes to play? I'm so sorry, but we don't sit American Staffordshire Terriers (pit bulls).

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks We live on a cul-de-sac with low traffic. It is in a quiet neighborhood. I would walk him without my dog because mine is still skittish when he hears car noises, lawn mowers, etc. at the front of the house. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Anywhere he wants to. Our dog sleeps in our bed. That is fine, but if yours has a special bed or something that will make him feel happier or more secure, just send it along. We also have a large dog bed for the floor made of canvas and fleece and plenty of fluffy blankets. We know dogs who are away from their homes can get lonely, so we will not have one sleep outside or in a room by himself. Time I'll spend with your dog That would vary according to the age of your dog (if he sleeps a lot, etc.); how active he is; whether he prefers human to dog company. I interact with my own dog 24 hours a day unless he is asleep. Sometimes that is during the night too. It would be the same for a dog guest. We would have playtime in the backyard 1-2 hours - divided- active playtime in the house 1-2 hours depending on what he wants according to his physical condition (for example: a older dog might not want to catch the ball or play tug as much as a younger one. We will sit on the bed and watch the bird feeder action as a "cool down" time. And have cuddle time on the couch as needed.
