I promise not to steal your dog 🤭

Pet care experience

Every summer since I started high school I’d go up with Washington to visit my grandparents and spend time helping take care of their generations of Rottweilers and German Shepherds resulting in my love for big dogs. My aunts both have miniature poodles that I’ve been able to pet sit as well and they’re the sweetest little sisters I’ve had the pleasure of watching over. So far all the pets that I’ve taken care of and asked to check in on, walk, and stay overnight has been such a wonderful experience that I am very grateful to be given the chance to do so. Truth be told, I get very very emotional when it comes to bonding pets and will cry when leaving them for the last time which is why it’s always such a pleasure to be booked again.

I had booked Alexis to start at 7am for dog sitting in my home but at 7:30am she still hadn’t arrived or communicated with me. I had to call her repeatedly and message her until she finally picked up. She said I found another sitter which I hadn’t (she had confused me with another client). Alexis ended up showing up over an hour and a half late. I had asked her to walk the dogs every 4 hours so they could potty. However, she didn’t walk any of the dogs at all. I asked her again during the session and she said she was waiting till they were done napping. But even after that, at no time did she walk them. I had my boyfriend ask her to leave because she wasn’t doing anything and I had to walk them. She did refund me for one dog (for being late and leaving early) which was about $21 so I’m giving her two stars for that instead of just one. If she didn’t want to walk the dogs or didn’t think she could handle them, she could’ve expressed it at any time but did not. I was very upset they hadn’t been out even once. Needless to say, I won’t be booking with Alexis again.

Lex was awesome. She took amazing care of my Ginger girl. She kept in contact, took photos and updated me regularly. I felt very comfortable having her in my home and will definitely be hiring her again. Thanks for everything Lex!

Alexis was great with our boys, they can be a bit extra and require an experienced touch- she was perfect and they warmed up to her right away. She provided lots of photos and updates and I would not hesitate to book her again.

A clients pet becomes my #1 priority and I do as much as I can to ensure that their pet is getting the utmost care I can possibly provide. Not only is a pet a furry and fun companion but require an immense amount of dedication and responsibility which is something I have learned over the years of experience of my life. For example: my cousin use a small dog named Max. He bit me. A lot. But what I learned is to approach a dog, especially smaller dogs that seem very wary, while bending down and gently offering your hand for them to sniff it. My grandparents currently own a beautiful Belgian Malinoise who unfortunately had a distressing past and has been left with fear aggression because of it. Both my brother and sister face the wrath of her fear aggression but I had an understanding of the possibilities and what could potentially scare her. Luckily, I got out unscathed hahaha For Cat it’s a little more simple—I kind of just play dead or pretend like I’m taking a nap while facing away from them so they know I’m not a threat but have a hand out because I know they get curious and slowly approach. Additionally, I’ve learned a lot when it comes to observing body language OK that they act around you and their habits when I’m not even there. It’s always come pretty natural to me when it comes to earning trust and respect of one’s pet. To be honest, all it takes is patience, the ability to show that you are no threat, and to let them know that you are there to take care of them. OK I know this is been a pretty long read, but I want to be transparent and let anybody who’s interested now that I am 100% open to adjusting fees according to whatever situation because that’s life and I’ve had clients that I have given discounts due to various specific circumstances— So please reach out to me and let me know, I’m here to help.

Information Alexis K. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know about your dogs’ temperament and their likes and dislikes. Additionally, if they need medication or special needs care I’d need to be instructed as to what kind of routine schedule they need. If they have any bad habits or things they do that they shouldn’t be doing I’ll need to know that as well. Another very important thing that I would like addressed is if your pet has experienced any certain trauma being a rescue and such. That’s why I am fully aware of potential triggers and things to avoid or things I can do to soothe your pet. I usually keep a journal on me when I schedule dates and log notes in so I have any questions then I’ll be sure to ask!

A typical day

I simply love spending time with dogs— getting to know them and figuring out what they love to do. Although I only have patio overlooking the suburban neighborhoods and the scenery, there is a large park just outside my small neighborhood that I enjoy taking dogs on walks to so they can romp around and play with me— especially if they’re energetic and need to blow off some steam.

As of now, I am currently in between jobs and I had is brutal so I decided to get back on Rover to take care of pets and alleviate the stress of searching for jobs if you know what I mean ha ha ha. Luckily most of the screening and initial meetings are via call or video so when it comes to schedule there’s not much of a problem really. If there is then I will always communicate and discuss and I will always arrange a meeting around what is on schedule for rover the best I can.
