answered a question My puppy now runs from me when i take him to go potty so I decided to use his leash but now he wont go to the bathroom & will go on the carpet right when we get inside help?

The problem here is definitely the leash. Your pup simply does not feel comfortable with the leash. If you give him time to get used to being on the leash, he'll start to go potty while on the leas as well.

I'd also recommend you to pick a phrase to induce him to go potty. Pick a phrase, something like "go potty" and use it every time your dog does the duty. That way you'll soon be able to tell him when to go potty.

answered a question Is it ok for my dog to eat mustard?

It's not okay! Mustard is actually toxic to dogs and induces vomiting in dogs. According to About Doggies, it is only appropriate to give your dog mustard when you need to induce vomiting in your dog. Inducing vomiting, though, is not something I'd recommend to do without first consulting with a vet.

answered a question what should I feed an older cat who throws up every kind of cat food?

If "human food" works for your cat, then just stick to that. Just make sure your cat is getting everything she needs from her new diet. Pay special attention to the amino acid content of the food you are feeding her. When it comes to amino acids, cats have different needs compared to humans and dogs. They cannot synthesize taurine, for an example, so that definitely needs to be present in her diet.

answered a question My dog gets car sick, what can I do?

What I've found helpful is to keep the air in the car cool and well ventilated. Also, opening all of the windows a few inches, so that the air pressure in the car would be roughly the same as outside. I do have heard that ginger could help as well, but haven't tried that. Probably the most important thing that I do to relieve my dog's car sickness is that I don't feed him before a planned car ride. I do, though, give my dog a treat when he gets in the car.

Smooth and calm driving, of course, is important as well.

answered a question How do I get my dog to eat?

The dog is either a picky eater or feels uncomfortable. Either way you should stop giving him treats for a while. If the normal food is the only food he will get, then there's no room for being a picky eater or uncomfortable.

answered a question Sitters or owners who have a yard - how do you keep it nice?

I'd say use coffee grounds or poison to get rid of the gophers, but because of the dogs it's not a good idea. IN your case I'd recommend to flood the tunnels with water. Just stick the end of the garden hose into one of the tunnels and let it run for a while.

answered a question Are choke collars bad?

I wouldn't say that they are bad, but they definitely shouldn't be anyone's first choice. Are they not only meant for dogs that are extremely difficult to train anyway? In my rather short life I've managed to train 2 dogs using only positive reinforcement. I'm not going to say that this has made me an expert, it definitely, has not, but I do think that every dog owner should first try to train his/her dog with positive reinforcement and, if possible, avoid things like choke collars.

commented answer Is it ok for dogs to share a water bowl?

I think that even the communal water bowls are okay. The water goes to the stomach, which is acidic, so it's unlikely that any germs would survive.

commented answer approximately how far is the average distance for a 30-min walk?

Do you think there are any benefits to sticking to familiar route?
