asked a question | Why am I receiving requests for times I've marked as unavailable? I keep getting requests for dates that I've marked as unavailable on my calendar. I have my calendar set as inflexible regarding overlapping stays. I thought being unavailable was supposed to keep you from appearing in searches. Why is this happening and does each request count as a mark against me? |

asked a question | Applying for a business license? As Rover advises, I checked with my state laws regarding working as an independent contractor (which all of us sitters on Rover are classified as) and needing a business license. I found out that in my city (Seattle) independent contractors are indeed required to have a business license and need to check with their property's zoning laws. For instance, laws about how many animals can stay at a residence at the same time, etc. I got approval regarding my home being zoned for a small business and applied for a business license which is awaiting review. I'm wondering if anyone else has been through this process and, if so, is there any reason the state would deny a business license if all the zoning conditions are adhered to? How do taxes differ? I'm gathering as much info as I can via the internet but would love some anecdotal info since I learn better from that. Thanks! |
asked a question | Any Seattle Sitters Interested in Networking? Hi Seattle Sitters, I'd love to meet you. I live in the Ballard/Crown Hill neighborhood of the city and keep getting requests for chunks of time that are marked unavailable on my calendar. I suspect it's from people who find my cards on bulletin boards, etc. and then don't check my availability prior to messaging me. I hate having to flatly turn people away and would love to meet a few folks to get a feel for who I could refer to. |

answered a question | how many new dogs find a home each year? I don't have a number for you but I did find a good resource with statistics of animals born vs. adopted vs. euthanized, etc. Seems like those numbers could be translated into the amount of dogs who find a home. Unfortunately, I don't have enough "treats" to post a link on the Q&A board so here's what I typed into the bing search engine: "How many pets are born each year" The first result was an article on Animal Overpopulation from the Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society. Hope you can find it! Very interesting. And sad. :( Edited to add link: http://www.oxfordpets.com/index.php?o... |
answered a question | Link Share I'd toss it in your junk folder. Based on what I've seen online, Linkshare is a marketing network that takes a cut of your pay and a lot of their customers seem unhappy. A good rule of thumb that I use when I'm not familiar with something is to type the "name of the company + scam" into Google. |
answered a question | Favorite treat carrier for dog walking? Thanks! I really liked the e-leash and bought one right after I looked it up online. It's exactly what I'm looking for and I'll let folks know what I think of it after it arrives and I have time to put it to good use. :) |

answered a question | whats the best car for a dog walker? I have a Honda Fit that folds down amazingly. I used to own an SUV and have actually been able to haul more in my Fit! I also appreciate the way the Fit doesn't have the lip that you see in the back of the Fiat when the seats fold down. I take giant breeds when I sit and I think it keeps things more comfortable in the back. |
asked a question | Favorite treat carrier for dog walking? Hi Sitters! I'm looking for a sturdy, utilitarian carrier/fanny pack for carrying my treats, poop bags, phone, and ID, etc. when I'm out and about walking my house guests. Thought I'd check here for suggestions. Thanks in advance! |
answered a question | Removing only one service I'm curious about this as well. If you do call Rover Support, please let us know what they say! :) |
answered a question | Sitter community? Maybe if enough people sent this as feedback to rover, they'd be willing to have their website devs come up with something. |

asked a question | How does the coupon code work? Does Rover deduct the discount of my coupon code from my pay? |
