My puppy destroys toys in a matter of hours. Rope toys NEVER last. However, I've noticed tough rubber toys (like the Extreme Kong) work great! There are also tough rubber Frisbees out there too. I've also noticed that whenever my dog plays with rope she'll sometimes try to eat it. With the rubber ones she's never been able to tear it up to even swallow it.
