asked a question I'm spending all my earnings on fixing the damage, is it worth it? Is it me or the dog or both?

I'm sitting my first client, an adult French bulldog, female, spayed. I've dogsat plenty of dogs for friends, some who met my girls before coming to my house and some after. I've sat smaller dogs than her without any incidents. At the meet/greet, things were good and the dogs got along well, nothing to remark about.

She's housebroken at her home per pet parent, but has had multiple accidents at mine despite seeming comfortable here. OK, it can be the transition and needing to learn where's ok to go. First, she went on my couch (20 minutes after spending 15 minutes outside not going, 2 walks before that, and while I was literally out of the room for 1 minute to get my book from another) then went into my dog's crate and peed on the mat. I went into toilet-training mode and had her leashed to me when she went on the carpet. I've been keeping her crated a ton or out only when I can have my eye on her without fail. It's been a few days now and, yes, she's gone 1 and 2 outside. It doesn't smell foul like a UTI or anything. It's not that.

I took her out and she peed this morning. I left her in the crate for 3 hours while I was gone--what parents said they did as well. I returned to her going in the crate. I took her outside and she did a marking-pee somewhere but that's it.

I'm at my wit's end feeling terrible for keeping her penned so much but not wanting any more messes to clean. I'm still trying to get all the urine out of my carpet (finishing second round of vinegar/baking soda and it'll need more, probably a carpet cleaner that I'll need to rent). I think I've taken care of the couch event. I've done 2 loads of laundry. I'm tired of living constantly taking the dog outside when the owner said she usually lasted 4-6 hours between breaks and of living in a house that reeks of urine.

This is way more than I was expecting and I'm not sure this is worth it since it'll end up costing me more than I'm making for this boarding after all the cleaning materials, the carpet cleaner rental and most likely needing to pull up the carpet because of how bad it is. It was never this bad training either of my 2 dogs so I'm not sure if this is normal for an adjustment or if she really isn't fully housebroken. I'm applying for online schools and was planning to continue to do this while taking classes at home but not if it's this much stress and damage.

Any constructive feedback appreciated.
