answered a question Hi I am intrested in becoming a dog sitter in my home is it possible to clear 500 dollars a week?

You can do it once you get established. It may take a year or two before you have enough regulars. You will always have some weeks with no bookings, but you will be able to make up for that during school breaks. You will be able to average $500.00 a week if you stay with it, but some weeks you might have 5 or six dogs.

answered a question behavior problem

Most of my problem dogs are small males. they will mark all the time. We have Male Wraps in all sizes. If it is a dog that we already know has a problem we are going to start charging extra. The pads that go in the male wraps cost money. It is a little harder for a female. Diapers are not so easy to take on and off every time they go out. It is just part of the business.

answered a question What if a dog bites you?

I would not try to correct this. Not worth it. Feed the dog alone and do not take him back. Not all dogs should be home boarded.

answered a question Multiple dogs watched at one time?

I have 2 of my own and will take up to three guests at a time. i feed them alone until I get to know them. It is not worth the aggravation of feeding them all together. You will get to know the problems. Try to keep the dogs from packing up in narrow halls. They get bunched up and one is bound to get nervous. It is impossible to dog sit without an occasional trip to the vet, but the meet and greet is so important. I have had a few minor nips and small fights, but no dog has ever gotten really hurt.

answered a question Is there any way to search for people who need a sitter in your area?

You can usually count on getting clients during holiday time. Most established sitters fill up early which helps the newcomers. Make sure you ask your first few clients for reviews. When I started I offered a $5.00 discount on their next stay if they left a review. If you find any clients on your own send them to Rover to book. Rover will take the 15%, but you will be covered by insurance and that is another review. It takes a little time, but after 2 years I am turning people away.

answered a question Do you sit 10 week old puppies

We used to sit puppies. Now we will only sit puppies for existing clients that get a new pup.

answered a question Is Blue Buffalo a quality dog food?

Blue is a good food, but I think it is overrated. I feed my dogs Taste of the wild which is a little cheaper and I think a better food. The makers of Taste of the wild also make the Kirkland brands for Costco. Natures Domain is almost identical to Taste of the wild at a 40% discount. A couple of minor changes to the ingredients. You can switch between Taste of the wild and Natures Domain if you just can not get to Costco.

answered a question Poop question

Try a different protein source. My Aussie had the same issue. Pumpkin just created Orange loose stools. We switched to Salmon and sweet potato. First we used natural balance, but I read it was not the best food for the buck. Now we use Taste of the wild salmon and sweet potato and she has nice firm poops. Number 3 on the scale. She used to be # 5 or 6
