| asked a question | How can i get my two dogs to get along? My dog a border collie likes his personal space, he is 5 years old and doesn't mind having friends, but only if they are respectful. The other dog a great Dane is 1 1/2 years old and doesn't respect boundaries and is a bit intimidating, but not aggressive just extremely playful. they did fight for a bit when I let them around each other, i had the great Dane on a leash just for more control, and since then i dont even know how to go about this, because my dog has taught other dogs boundaries before and everything was fine, but the only difference was the other dogs never really fought back. I may have cause the attack because I reacted and pulled on the leash which you aren't supposed to do, but still I really dont know how to go about this. And side note the great Dane wants to play with my dog really bad, and my dog has shown some friendly interest in the great Dane, I just dont want either one to get hurt if I just let them in an area together and I not know what to do. My first thought is to exhaust both dogs before hand but I would like to know if there's someone that has more insight into this. |
