asked a question | Long Drop-In Visits & How to price? I had someone inquire about drop in visits for their 2 dogs. 1 is 2 months old & the other is 1 year & some months old. They are wanting 1 drop in visit per day for about 2 hours (4-6pm). I have never done a drop in visit longer than 45 mins so I am unsure of how to PRICE this visit. My drop in visits for up to 45 mins is starting at $15 for 1 dog and $5 for each additional. Can some one give me some advice on how I could price this? The dates are for 12/27, 12/28, 12/29, & 12/30. |

commented answer | Don't want to do overnights for house sitting..? I agree that rover should have that option. I’m torn. I don’t want to loose the booking but I also don’t want to bend myself during the holiday. I am tempted to message her before the M&G to let her know about the overnight stay... |

commented answer | Don't want to do overnights for house sitting..? Thank you for this, definitely writing this down! I think I am going to message and let her know drop-ins work better for me. As far as for my house sitting rate I had it low due to being new on Rover but have been dog sitting for awhile. What would be good a rate to set it to at the moment? |

asked a question | Don't want to do overnights for house sitting..? I completed my first house sitting this past weekend. While everything went smoothly and the owner was nice, I feel it has changed my mind about spending overnights at someones house. The house was 'dirty' due to renovation (I knew they were renovating but thought it would be a little cleaner before my stay). They left the counter top disgusting with left over stains and food crumbs (I cleaned) the stove was moved to the middle of the house and was also covered in dust (I cleaned). & They had no kitchen sink. They're bed had ants on it with the couch was covered in dust. And what topped it off is while I stepped out for dinner, someone came in their house and moved stuff around. When I messaged the owner about, she said I "think" it was my neighbor..um you think? I didn't want to ask if my boyfriend can come with me sometimes cause I was already into the stay but I just felt a little scared/thrown off and dirty. I brought cleaning supplies from our house to wipe and clean up the food and dust. Does anyone else feel this way? I want to keep the house sitting option and I am willing to spend most of the day and even into the evening at their home but not sleep there. Plus I don't sleep well outside of my bed. I also had an owner message me last week for a house sitting for overnight stay from 12/22 - 12/29 and we scheduled a M&G (where she also wants to discuss cost.. sigh) but I don't know what to do now. I am not sure if I should just go to the M&G and discuss details than, or let her know my price and about the overnights before the M&G. I also don't think I want to wake up at someone elses house for Christmas Eve and Day. I mean.. its Christmas. Someone give me advice! |
commented answer | Owner wants to talk about cost at meet & greet (Holiday Rates)? Thank you for this, it helped so much and I 100% agree with you. I am going to message her today about the price, if she agrees, we will continue on with the meet and greet! |

asked a question | Owner wants to talk about cost at meet & greet (Holiday Rates)? A potential client reached out to me asking about possibly house sitting for her while shes on a cruise from 12/22 - 12/29 and wanted to do a meet and greet. She stated during the meet and greet she wanted to "see what I charge"? Has anyone does this to anyone else? Do the owners see the total cost when messaging a potential sitter? Based off my prices listed on Rover the total generated came out to $756.00 for 3 dogs and a cat for 7 days and during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Yes, I know that is a lot of money, but how do I generate a cost for the 4 pets, 7 days, and 2 holidays for when I go to the meet and greet?! I don't want to charge too much or too little but it is during a major holiday.. |
