asked a question | URGENT - Cancelling a series of drop-ins partway through? Sorry for posting this also in the "About Rover" Q&A Forum - I'm not sure which one is better for this question and I really need help!! So here's my situation: So I'm a sitter providing three days of drop-ins at 7:30PM for a client: yesterday (which already happened), this evening (in less than 4 hours) and tomorrow. Because it snowed at my University, she no longer needs the drop-ins today and tomorrow. But because I performed the service yesterday, I'm not sure what to do. Does she cancel? Do I cancel? If she cancels, what percentage do I still get paid / how much will she be refunded? If I cancel, same question. My cancellation policy is moderate. Please help!! Thank you so much! |

commented answer | Have you ever gone for a long stay where there is a roommate? Thinking on it, I had made it higher when I was new to Rover but raised my rates after a few months, forgetting to change the puppy rate! So thank you. |
commented answer | Have you ever gone for a long stay where there is a roommate? Thanks for the comment Karen! I'm thinking more about what you said as I await a reply from the owner regarding a different question I had. Also, the $2 additional is for walks, $5 for overnights - I didn't realize I made the puppy rate lower so thank you for letting me know!! Much appreciated. :) |

asked a question | Have you ever gone for a long stay where there is a roommate? Hi everyone! I’ve done several lengthy stays by now but this is a first for me: a client just asked me after several back-and-forth messages if I mind that there is a roommate in the house I would be staying at for a month. I would meet him when I go over for the meet & greet but logically I am wondering if I should be wary of staying in a home with a man I don’t really know. Has anyone ever done a stay or declined a stay before where there was someone else in the residence? Thank you! To clarify: The house belongs to a couple (the owners of the dogs). They rented one room to a friend of theirs. UPDATE: With your guidance, I politely declined the stay and PLOT TWIST the owner told me she also has an apartment with no roommates! So I will be doing the stay there. Resolved! :) |

asked a question | Drop-ins without Meet-and-Greets? Hi! I am somewhat new to Rover and had an owner contact me today with the simple message "Will you be able to check in on [name] on [dates]?" In short, I responded with my specific availability (so the answer would be "yes") and proposed a meet-and-greet. I am wondering if you always schedule meet-and-greets with owners and pups when you will be doing a drop-in at their home, not organizing an overnight or all-day stay. I definitely know it is the most responsible thing to do and I definitely want to do this; however, I worry that owners will think it is too much trouble for just a drop-in. I'm probably really overthinking this, but I wanted to hear from some more experienced Rover sitters about what you do prior to drop-ins. Thanks so much! :) |
