answered a question Is it okay to give my actual phone number to the client?

I would absolutely trade numbers. There are just too many variables involved with technology and getting in touch with people when necessary. I made the mistake one time of not exchanging numbers with an owner, and he ended up trying to pick up his dog a day early at midnight and was angry with ME for not being ready. People can be too unpredictable. I, personally, would rather have all my bases covered. Also, there have been some times when the Rover app has gone down and I’m so glad I have their cell number to let them know that their pet is doing well, or that we just completed the walk, etc. Another issue is the fact that I sometimes like to take videos of the pups playing, snuggling, doing something cute to send and the Rover app does not allow for sending video.

But Krystal that sounds TERRIBLE! I would absolutely call Rover even if it’s just to let them know your current situation. You don’t have to have evidence if you are living it! They are taking advantage of you and I’m sorry, but that creeps me out that they are watching you like that!!

I’d actually like to know that too. Is there a way to charge extra for fees that you incur taking care of someone else’s messy mistakes (ummmm pet)?
