commented answer Does anyone really brush their dog's teeth?

Very true Erica.

answered a question Dog behaviour?

I think it depends more on the individual dog. I always introduce dogs one at a time and separated by a gate for a few minutes first. It gives me a chance to read their body language and gives them a chance to calm down if they're overly excited. Keep in mind they're reading you too, so if you're nervous it may make them uneasy too.

commented question Will our first dog return to 'normal' after he gets used to our new second dog?

It's so hard to predict. The dynamic really changes sometimes with a second dog. I would recommend spending some time with both dogs individually and together. If nothing else it may help you get specific about how he's behaving differently.

commented question would I be able to meet and get to know a sitter prior to getting a dog?

Yes you can and absolutely should get to know your sitter. As a dog sitter I insist on meet and greets too. If I have any reservations about the dog I ask that we complete a second meet and greet or even complete a couple of daycare stays first. Your sitter should be very understanding.

commented answer expenses to write off on taxes?

My CPA said I should be fine deducting new sod each year as a business expense as damage incurred while doing business. Maintenance is slightly different, but you should still be able to deduct a percentage of it. I deduct 50% of my water bill based on the fact that I do 2x the amount of laundry.

I believe all business travel includes your round trip:)

answered a question How to stop my dog from uranating on the carpet?

I liked all of the above answers, but will also add, use Nature's Miracle to clean up his urine. As the first answer said, if your dog can smell his urine where he's gone before he will continue to pee there.

It's also important to establish if he's peeing or marking. Since you just walked him prior, it sounds like marking, which can also be addressed by reasserting your position as pack leader - only you get to mark there! ;) You can assert your pack leadership in a number of ways like, feeding your dog after you eat, not before. Don't feed him from the table. Not allowing him on the furniture or bed. Also, make sure you lead when walking your dog, don't allow him to lead or pull you. Best of Luck!

commented answer Why did I get paid less than I was supposed to?

Kim, as an Uber driver I can assure you that they do not have a tip "system" . Riders can tip a driver, but even then Uber has instructed drivers to tell riders that the tip is calculated into their fare and a tip is not required. If a rider still wants to tip, we can accept the tip.

answered a question How do I keep my dog from sneaking on the couch while gone?

I was successful by just putting the magazines from the coffee table on the couch before I left for work. That always did the trick.

answered a question Does anyone really brush their dog's teeth?

I'm sorry but I disagree with most of these posts. I've had two dogs over the course of two decades and never brushed their teeth. Nor did I ever have a problem with tartar buildup, teeth falling out, or bad breath. People that brush your dog's teeth, do you floss their teeth too?

I would ask your vet because I'm sure they know better than me but I took my dogs in for regular checkups and it was never a concern.

A dog's saliva is much stronger than a humans and brushing their teeth is something I'm pretty sure has only come about in just the last few years. For centuries dog owners have not been brushing their dog's teeth.

I did give my dog cow femur bones from the butcher to chew on and that probably helped a lot. Cow femur bones won't splinter. My dogs were 100+ pound German Shepherds and they never broke through one of the femur bones .

I also fed my dogs high quality dog food, not the terrible stuff that is typically advertised on TV. Do a Google search about whats in dog food and you will be horrified. There is however the issue of cost. High quality dog food is not cheap.

All that said, I know people are only asking because they're concerned about their dogs. I don't mean to offend anybody for their opinions.

commented answer How do you handle a dog constantly barking?

Exercise is key. Play the pup hard and he'll be relaxed and content. Other options are to consider getting a cat to take his attention off of whatever he's barking at. Ideally, if this was a concern it should have been considered when selecting the breed; some dogs don't bark much at all.
