answered a question What's the best dog shampoo for dry itchy skin?

I use Dr. Bronner's soap diluted in a gallon jug with some ACV poured in. Wash with it and then rinse off. Then in a separate gallon jug of water, 3:1 ratio of water to ACV as a 2nd rinse. Do not rinse this off. Let dry. They will not smell like ACV once they are dry. I have bulldogs and boxers and have been using this combination since they were all very young.

If your dogs beg for food, it has nothing to do with what you feed them and more to do with the behavior you have taught them. My dogs will not even look at their food until I give them the "ok" command, while they sit patiently. They would never even think about begging for food. ;)

Your comment is is wrong on so many levels. Bone marrow is absolutely amazing for dogs, RAW bones are essential, and instead of cooking eggs - killing all the beneficial enzymes, just serve them raw, including the shell. RAW food is alive. Dogs are carnivores - they prefer it RAW. :)

Garlic is very good for your dog. That being said, do your research. You would have to give large dog about 75 cloves to overdose. Many people still don't like using it. It is a great antifungal, antiviral and deworming... Skeptical? Just skip it. Use something you are comfortable with.

answered a question Best remedies for hot spots?

ACV can often times eliminate the itchiness and help the spot heal. Adding coconut oil to his food might help as well.

You can get some calcium bentonite clay and make a paste out of it. 1:1 ratio and put it on the hot spot. Try to keep it on for at least 30 minutes so the clay can do its job. It not toxic to your dog so if he licks it off, it will actually help eliminate toxins from the inside as well. Be sure it is Calcium Bentonite clay and not sodium bentonite.

Sometimes it is in the dog's diet that has caused the spot. Your dog may be allergic to something, even if he wasn't in the past. You can try an elimination diet also, to determine if it is food related.

answered a question How can I make my own dog food?

For new puppies or dogs that have not been on RAW I start them off slow. With mostly chopped or ground up food. A mix of ground turkey and ground beef is the base. Then a mix of veggies like broccoli or spinach and carrots and/or pumpkin, and things like yogurt or kefir, brewers yeast, turmeric, sardines, mackerel, eggs, and crushed egg shells. (It varies each time depending on what I pick up at the store and what might be on sale that month.) Then I mix 75% meat mix with about 25% veg mix in a ziploc bag, then top it with a few logs of frozen green tripe. When I serve it, I add a dollop of coconut oil, a splash of ACV and then also give a multi-vitamin and a probiotic treat each day.
When my puppies are old enough, they start eating bone-in chicken/turkey as well and about once a month they also get offal (heart/liver etc.) I have been feeding RAW for almost 5 years. For newbies, I suggest watching lots of videos and do your research before jumping right in. Your dog will thank you for it.
Also do what is comfortable for you and your dog. If you can't stand the site of blood, then stick with ground meat. If you are not okay with giving your dog chicken feet or necks, then don't. It gets easier the longer you feed it. :)

Or don't. RAW food is living food. Cooking it kills off the beneficial enzymes. ;)

Very nicely said Sunny. :)

You have a very smart Vet. :) You are probably one of the lucky ones that does not get a lecture from their Vet when mentioning anything about a RAW diet for dogs.

commented answer Can I give my dog chicken bones?

That would only happen if the bones are cooked. NEVER give your dog any bones unless they are RAW! Period.
