answered a question Does my dog know I love him?

Tag dog? How?

Yes, they know we love them by us opening the door and bringing them back in to be a part of the pack each day. By the reassuring voice used to console when there hurt or sick. By the sharing of your food each day. He shows his love for you in all the same ways. You can see and feel it, in how he treats you in return.

asked a question Does my big dog look at little dogs like they are toys?

I have a husky shepherd mix and when I sit for little dogs, it looks to me like my dog would like to grab it by the neck and shake it violently like when we play with our stuffed animals. She is so friendly and playful with all dogs and people. I watch them like an over protective mother hen when they are playing. am I being too cautious ? is there an easy way to make my dog not make me think she's thinking those thoughts ?
How hard is it really for them to resist the urge ? what are they really thinking ?

answered a question How do you teach a dog not to jump on people?

To stop the jumping on us we used the knee approach. It worked great for us. We followed that up with a hand gesture open and then closed to signify stop/down. When guests came over I make her lay down and wait for the guests to come to them that promotes calm submissive posture. Be persistent with authority.

answered a question What is the best, dog-friendly way to kill a bees nest?

I wish I knew about the peppermint oil About 15 years ago when I couldn't find anyone to relocate them. We noticed a softball sized clump of bees developing on one of our branches within an hour it became the size of a football. I spayed them with the hose. Half flew away & half were drowned. Mix the oil in a yard sprayer you attached to a hose and set to a fine mist they should all survive the wet reminder to relocate on their own.
