answered a question | are there other ways to do meet and greets other than the traditional way? I enjoy meeting owners at a nearby park with their dogs and then walking over to my home. This allows me to watch them interact with their dogs in a populated area, see how their dog behaves on the leash and what commands/language the owner and dog use to best communicate. I also ask the owner to turn the leash over to me for a little while so their dog understands that their human trusts me to guide them. I never charge for the Meet and Greet. If you develop a secure and lasting relationship with the client, the payoff is in the good relationship and repeat business. |
commented answer | Did you ask apartment permission to dog sit? Very helpful thank you! |
answered a question | should you tip the sitter? As a former elementary school teacher, I never expect parents to give me anything, other than honest and frequent communication about their child. I learn as much as possible about each family's needs, because it's what I love to do, and not because I expect a tip. That being said, when a family or single parent of a dog surprises me with something other than their gratitude and return business, I find it to be a humbling moment, and appreciate their generous gesture. |
answered a question | how do i get people to use my services? I created my own business card in addition to ordering sets of the Rover Cards with the $20 discount. My cards show a dog I have on my profile on one side and my Rover information on the other. My cardstock is a unique shape, stronger than the Rover Card and quite cute! After a Meet and Greet I give the potential client both cards. I also visit neighborhoods near dog parks and leave my cards in places such as coffee shops, that are open to the idea, where people sit outside with their dogs. Good luck! |
