I think there is a general misunderstanding here. A dog (living creature) cannot be mailed, even if someone would specifically want this - it doesn't even sound right... However, dogs can be shipped by airlines and they have to meet very strict regulations for the wellbeing of the dog.

Hi Laura. Actually http://petfinder.com is one of the largest pet adoption website owned and operated by Nestlé S.A. (one of the largest pet food manufacturer). You must have thought of another website?

answered a question How do I breed my dog?

Dear Rover,

Please discourage every regular dog owner from breeding. A breeder is passionate about the breed and has a vision for why and what she/he wants to achieve. It requires commitment and responsibility.

There are plenty of back yard breeders and puppy mills already which just add to the animal welfare issues. I want to see more and more people to recognize professional breeders and applaud their work. Of course, this cannot happen without educating the public first how to tell a professional breeder from a hobby or puppy mill breeder.

Breeding dogs is a serious commitment towards maintaining and improving the dog breed. It is not hobby. That is called back-yard breeding.

answered a question Next Day Pets

I see a huge problem with the dog world. NextDayPets is just one of the websites catering for dog lovers and breeders... and they are one of the better ones - even if it is hard to believe. Sure they could do more but they are definitely better then the other dozen who come up at the top of the search engine, such as http://puppyfind.com.

One of the problems is that these classified sites have not evolved over the years and allow all sorts of people, organizations and breeders to advertise. Yes, this includes good, ethical breeders and puppy mill or back yard breeders too. But how could one tell the difference between one or the other? No way or not an easy way. So, no surprise if people fall into the arms of the wrong group of "breeders".

Also, since these sites are also in the business of making money and they want more advertisers to pay subscription, it would go against their business interest to limit the advertisers to approved breeders only.

I believe there is a better way to promote responsible breeders and help future dog owners make the right choice. This requires a couple of things: transparency, all necessary information to be available on one site (page) and a strict screening or approval process of the breeders (they must be a registered professional breeder).

This is the vision of https://wuuff.dog/en which aims to serve the dog community internationally. The site is still very young and will evolve over time, but the owners are committed to make this a better world for dogs and humans.

Here is what a typical https://wuuff.dog/en/valburg-rackeresztur (Tibetan Mastiff breeder) page looks like.

answered a question How should I shave a pomeranian?

I am on a different opinion here. A Pomeranian should not be shaved unless for health care reasons. They are a beautiful purebred dog breed loved for their look and temperament.
