I like to put a thank you card in the bag with the pups things to go home, thanking the client for using our services, telling them to think of us next time they need a sitter, and asking them to please leave us a review on Rover if they have time - that it does so much to help our little business. We have had great success with this, and lots of reviews!

asked a question Destructive Stay?

Hi everyone -

We have been sitting on Rover for almost 5 months now with much success, lots of great dogs and good experiences. We are in the middle of a stay right now in which the dog has been very destructive in our home. We did a meet and greet, and met the owners, who mentioned that he does get a little anxious when left alone, and may chew his blanket. We discussed his anxiety, that my boyfriend and I are typically gone about 2 days a week, and they were agreeable to that. The first day we left the dog alone, he caused over $100 of damage to our belongings. We messaged the owners, who responded that they told us he has anxiety when left alone, and that they were under the impression we would be home all the time with their dog. I tried to be very calm and collected during the messaging, informing them that we did discuss it during the meet and greet and it is clearly defined in our profile what our schedules are. She suggested putting him in a room with his bed and blanket, and nothing he can chew on - which we have done. Fast forward - we are now halfway through the stay, the dog has almost destroyed the door to the point where there is a hole in it, scratched up our floor, and destroyed the door frame. We have a crate, but since he is not used to it I am afraid he will hurt himself if we leave him in there.

So to get to the point of the question - how do we bring this up with the owner without earning a bad review? Would you recommend trying the crate? Should we contact Rover support?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
