asked a question | Tax Deductions? Hi all, First, I will consult a tax professional when tax season comes, this is just for ideas. But I'm curious what other sitters track for tax deductions? So far, I've kept track of mileage and expenses like treats, leash, etc.. Does anyone track anything else for tax deductions that I'm not thinking of? Would love to hear what everyone's doing. Thanks in advance, Alysa |

asked a question | Is there a way to raise my rates, but keep it the same for repeat clients? I'm just wondering, if I want to raise my rates, will that impact clients I'm already working with? I don't want the price to go up for existing clients, but I would like to raise it for any new clients. Thanks so much, Alyssa |
asked a question | Supplemental Insurance to Cover Me? Good morning! I don't plan on doing dog boarding in my home, so this is different than the home insurance questions. I'm just wondering as a walker/drop-in Rover sitter, do you recommend getting a supplemental insurance plan to cover me incase I get bitten or hurt while watching a pup? I know Rover's insurance only covers the dogs in my care, so I'm wondering the best way to go about it. I know the medical bills can be huge from a dog bite, so trying to be cautious. I also realize that this is why meet & greets are so important, you can get a big sense of who the dog is by spending time with him/her beforehand, but I'm just looking to cover all my bases. If you have an insurance policy to cover you, could you share who you have it through? Thank you all in advance! Alyssa |

answered a question | How does house sitting work? Are you actually making any money? Hi Taylor, I am recently new as well, so welcome! From what I understand, house sitting is when you actually stay at the client's home overnight. That way the dog doesn't have to leave the comfort of their own home and go to a dog kennel/lodge. A drop-in visit is more like if the owner is gone for a long day of work and would like you to drop-in during the afternoon to let the dog out and play with him/her. You can adjust your house sitting rates if you prefer to make more. From what I've seen in my area, sitters charge anywhere from $40-70/per night for house sitting, so you'd actually be making quite a bit more for a four night stay. Best of luck to you! |
