answered a question | Does anyone have tips for helping dogs with anxiety? Provide a safe enclosed space for the dog to hide out in, and continue to expose her to the other dogs. Unless she has had terrifying trauma in the past, eventually she will get used to it and almost definitely will prefer being with you to staying at home alone. |
asked a question | Would you accept two Unspayed dogs who will be in heat and/or bleeding during their stay? Would you charge a special needs fee? How much? I have had a request to care for two unspayed dogs who may be bleeding during their stay with me. I am not familiar with breeding dogs and see the possibility of changing bloody diapers as pretty distasteful. I am not interested in a discussion of why this owner should spay her dogs, I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this and how messy or extra difficult it is to care for animals in this situation. Thank you. |

answered a question | How to prevent 'marking.' There is a product called a doggie diaper. It's an absorbent band you wrap around the dog's waist. Most dogs really hate the sensation of trying to Mark but ending up getting themselves wet, and they hate wearing a diaper. Often it will help break them of the marking habit. |
answered a question | Does anyone provide a discount if you are watching a dog for an extended period of time? Yes, I would give a discount of between 5-10$ a day, depending on size and needs of the dog. If the dog is small and easy to care for, it would be $10 off, but if the dog took up a lot of space or required several walks a day or had other extra needs, the discount would be less. The best tip a client can give you is return business, and if you go out of your way to accommodate a pet by giving a small discount, that client will remember that and return again and again ( hopefully!) |
