commented answer How to get owners to actually respond during booking requests?

Has it ever happened to you for a last minute sit? I met my client and her dog tonight for our first M&G (She reached out this morning) and I confirmed the booking. I'm picking up the dog tomorrow morning, but she hasn't confirmed on the app yet. Any suggestions?

commented answer How do I get my Treat game UP?

What's the benefit of a treat? If you have lots of treats, do you get moved up in the Rover sitter search ranks? Otherwise it almost reminds me of Who's Line Is It Anyway - "Everything's made up...And the points don't matter!" lol

commented answer ARCHIVE REQUEST???

Do you know it the client is notified that you archived their request? I want to archive a client that's deciding between sitters but I don't want them to think I'm uninterested

answered a question Is there help with finding replacement dog walker for regular clients while im on vacation so I don't lose customer to competition?

Yes, you can contact Rover Match to see who they recommend. https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/ar...

Hopefully your clients won't stop booking with you just because you're gone for a week! I think most people are pretty understanding.

answered a question Help with a dog who won't stop whining?

I'm surprised that the owner would tell you that the dog doesn't have separation anxiety, but then insist on leaving when the dog wasn't looking. That doesn't seem to add up - it sounds like the owner knew the dog would be upset by his leaving. I would communicate to the owner that the dog has separation anxiety and if you're comfortable, at the end of the stay you could suggest saying goodbye next time. Whether the dog sees the owner leave or not sooner or later the dog will know his owner is gone.

A lot of dogs don't play with toys when stressed. But try to keep him by the bed/toy as much as possible, because the scent from home may become comforting.

As you said the dog only arrived tonight. His behavior really isn't that unusual. Give him some time to adjust. If you feel that you are being "stuck" with this dog because he has some anxiety, remember that each dog is an individual and has unique needs. He is missing his family, and it sounds like it's causing him distress, so bond with him and give him lots of love.

answered a question can i use multiple mobile numbers for contacting sitter?

You could share usernames. You should be able to download the app on your phone and she should be able to log into it. Also, your sitter as a Rover phone number. Your wife should be able to call/text that number from her mobile phone number, but that would mean that your wife is using her personal number and not your family's Rover number.

answered a question Is it okay to use a muzzle on a client's dog?

When in doubt - always ask the owners. It sounds like they're aware of the dog's behavior and may have suggestions on how to correct it

answered a question Why do some sitters offer day care and several walks same day?

They may be opening up their availability for both walks and day care, but it doesn't mean that they're actually booked. I leave all options open because you never know what requests might come through.

commented answer Does anyone know what questions are asked for the sitter reviews?

Hi Serina, do you know if a rating is mandatory? I had my first client recently but he did not leave a review, and I'm wondering if he's going to.

answered a question Why does my dog poop at my office?

It could be due to the anxiety of being in a new place. A dog-friendly office with all it's new smells and people and animals could be overwhelming. Sounds like she's also adjusting to a new routine. Re-potty training is the way to go.

answered a question Why does my male dog hump my other male dog?

This action is to establish dominance. It is also a form of play to some dogs, but not all. One dog may find it playful and another may not appreciate being "dominated" if it is not a submissive dog itself.

answered a question Who will help housetrain our dog?

Hi there, it sounds like you're looking to find a Rover sitter. You can search for sitters in your area at http://www.rover.com and sending a sitter a booking request.

answered a question Why won't my dog poop?

It could be diet related, whether eating less or a change in the food you give him. Or there might be blockage in the intenstine from toy debris or other things your dog could've consumed that it shouldnt have- which can be very serious and potentially fatal. If your dog hasn't pooped I would contact a vet

answered a question Does Uber or Lyft allow nonassistance dogs? What if its an emergency?

This is a good question regardless of if it's your own dog or a clients dog. It's up to the Driver. They get to choose just like you get to make choices as a Rover Sitter. Make sure you call/text them ahead of time to make sure they're ok with you bringing in the animal. Chances are if you set your destination as a vet office, they won't be too surprised.

answered a question Is my dog marking his territory?

im confused on what your bigger concern here. Is it that your dog is peeing in the house where she wasn't before? Or are you looking for reasons to build a case for your friend to use a different mop? It seems to me like that's the bigger concern here.

If it's the latter, I don't think marking is very convincing. To your point about the dog marking it's scent because of where the mop is being used- If that was the case your dog would be trying to pee on the mop itself, or in other areas around the house where messes are made. If your dog was marking, it would mark different things it "owns"(probably things belonging to you or new items brought into the house) and not just that one spot.

Look for patterns in the accidents and when they occur. If my dog has an accident while I'm not home, he also goes in front of the door. I figure it's because that's the closest spot to being "out". I'll admit those times are when I've left in a hurry without making sure he properly did his business outside, but if you're doing your due dillegence with potty breaks, consider contacting a vet about bladder issues. Maybe your dog can't hold it and waits infront of the door to be let out until an accident happens.

As for the mop situation, just explain to your friend that it's unsanitary and damaging your floors. Show them how you prefer messes to be clean. If they're a respectful roommate they'll understand.

answered a question New, 2nd dog - how to prevent play aggression?

Sounds like you're paying a lot of attention to Roxy and the signs of escalation in her demeanor. Are you watching Dodge to see if there are any triggers causing Roxys sudden change in mood? There might be a certain action or behavior that causes Roxy to snap - and maybe identifying that and correcting that behavior, not just the reaction, could help.

answered a question How do I stop my dog from jumping ?

The best time to correct an unwanted behavior is right before it occurs. Observe your dogs body language and the "tells" that she is about to jump (wide eyes, stepping feet, a certain whine). Calm her down with your own demeanor and put your hand out and slowly bring it down. If your dog jumps on you, cross your arms and turn your back and give no attention - while communicating. That is key. You can't just ignore. Give a cue such as "down" or "no jump".

answered a question What is the best way to get bookings?

Be active on the site, and respond quickly. Pay attention to your ratings and become involved in the community. Accept your first few clients if you're comfortable with them, because more will follow.

commented answer How do I send testimonial requests after initial set up (i.e. for private clients)?

Ditto above. You'll just have to have their email or be friends on Facebook.

answered a question Does the rover.com show somehow that the owner made a deal with someone else?

No, there is no way to know. But a good way to go above and beyond is to check back with them in a few days. I always drop requesters a line before I archive them, just letting them know I'm thinking of them and ask them if they were able to find a sitter and that I'm still here if they need anything.

Even if they did book with someone else, that can go a long way in the future if that sitter doesn't work out or becomes unavailable. You never know when that relationship will work in your favor!

commented question What should I expect after summer is over?

I am new to Rover so I'm not sure I have an answer but I do want to bring up another point- cheaper isn't always better! You want to have competitive rates but owners may feel that they are getting less quality with the cheapest rate. So don't sell yourself short, maybe you'll even get more clients

commented question Owner(new Rover user) never responded after a good meet & greet?

I would just call the owner. Leave a message if she doesn't answer. Confirm that she's still interested in booking. Usually what I do is ask the client before I leave if they've used Rover before and if they know how to book. I make any adjustments to their request and book it right there.

commented answer Why does my dog snore so much?

Ditto for the nasal passage blockage. Sometimes it's the anatomy of the breed, or where the tongue falls. It could also be allergies. My dog gets a runny/stuffy nose and he always snores more when his allergies are flaring up. Talk to your vet about allergy meds if it's a concern

commented question Why does it charge per dog per night for house-sitting?

Not that outrageous. If you had three kids you would pay a babysitter more than if you had one kid (I would hope). Each dog still requires attention. If you put the dogs in a kennel you would be paying per dog too, at least with this service you get the value add on of a house sitter.

commented answer Why does my dog slide on the carpet?

Likely trying to drain anal glands. As mentioned this can be done at the vet. Groomers can also drain them. Or your dog can do it itself but often leaves the discharge on the carpet or whatever surface was used. Another theory, your dog is leaving his scent without peeing/pooping

commented answer Does my dog think she is in charge?

Ditto with the tail posture meaning confidence. Plus, you mentioned the dog looking back at you when it's unsure where to go. That's a tell tale sign the dog knows you're in charge.
