asked a question | Advice on who to contact or suggestions? I have a new dog, first time here. I have watched a wide variety of dogs, small to very large, but this one has pushed some boundries. The owner did not want a meet and greet, and I should have suspected something, but I was looking to build my business back up for the summer, so I agreed. He will pee outside but poop inside. I've experiences this with other dogs, and at least I can clean that up. However, he is extremely wild. Even with the commands given and his buzzing collar. He won't stop panting, and is running around. Non-stop. He broke a lamp that I loved, and has survived 3 cats, 5 dogs, dog sitting, and 2 children. He also tore up my couch in the ONE minute I walked into the kitchen. I have not yet contacted the owner or Rover. Any suggestions what to do first? Has anyone else had household items ruined? Again...I have watched a large variety of dogs, and I've dealt with high strung dogs before. I've just never had one break a lamp and ruin my living room couch. She also said he was fine with cats, but he is not. He chased my 3 cats and now they won't come out. Thank you. |

answered a question | do you give repeat clients a reduced rate, if so what amount? I think this is up to you. I typically offer repeat clients a discount. I have found that they end up telling me they will pay me the full amount anyway because they love having their dog with me. They are happy that I offered, and most times, I still get my full rate. If you are not willing to take a discount, don't feel that you have to offer a reduced rate. Charge what you feel you are worth, but know if other sitters in your area charge less, you may lose the business eventually. I try to keep an eye out on my nearby market rates as well. Good luck! |
commented answer | Would you purchase a replacement harness? Thank you. I did end up buying her a replacement, and I let the owners know. They were extremely grateful. The cost of the harness did end up being what I made that day, but they are planning on using me for many more days of doggy day care, so I think I did the right thing. |

asked a question | Would you purchase a replacement harness? I am watching a puppy. I had to leave for an hour to go to a doctor's appointment. I put the puppy in the crate, and while I was gone, she chewed up her harness. I came back and it was chewed through. Do I buy a replacement harness or do I tell them she did this and they get a new one? I guess good customer service would state that I buy a new one. Just curious as to what other's thoughts may be! |
